Friday was the wind up of the Legion Bowling League for this year with an exciting finish. More on this next week after the Banquet arid Trophy —ppeSentations. Saturday the Branch hosted the Provin- cial cribbage tournament and 51 teams were ,entered from all over Ontario, A team from FOrt Erie came out the 'winner. :Once again the Ladies Auxiliary were very busy serving lunch to everyone present. On .behalf of the Branch and Executive .thanks to everyone who had a hand in anyway to make this day such a success. - Dates to remember from the past: - April. 24 was the anniversary of the Battle ef Ka- pyong, Korea. rm sure the Veterans of the Korean Conflict will wellremember this and May5 will be the anniversary of the Gelman Army's surrender in 1945, followed on May 8 .by Victory in Emilie, also in 1945. At the going down of the sun in the morn- ing we will remember them. HAPPY REUNION • The Ontario Cribbage Championships, hosted Saturday at the Seaforth Legion, turned out to be the setting of a happy reunion between Iwo war bud- dies. Wes Coombs, of Seaforth, and Oliver Luzon,. of Belle River, met again after a separation of 45 years. The pair had joined up;logether in the early 1940s in London, but lost touch after Mr. Coombs was wounded in Italy and they were separated. Frank Phillips photo. Rivalries UFOs sighted at. Hully Gully • UF0s•were sighted at Hully Gully April 26 - unbelievably fast objects, that is. CMA sanctioned racing made its first 10_87 ap- pearance at Hully Gully count, bringing with it an entourage of 'speed riders. Sensational in. all three Jr. classes was Steve Bolousky, 1986 National Schoolboy Champion. No one could match his speed, though notable Robert Phillipeck was keen to try. Hully Gully Honda team riders .couldn't have asked for better racing. Alan Strickart only had pesky Todd Townend to contend 'with in the Seniors, while Kevin Moore picked up class wins in Expert 125 and 250. These finishes rocket the Honda pilot into the points lead in the provincial standings. Another Honda rider, Ted Van Nest, sur- prised everyone with his consistency, grabl- ing the holeshot in all six motos he ran. Clin- ton's holeshot artist Dave Andrews went 4-1 for his best finish yet, third overall, in the 125 Jr. B. class. CMA Pro. Racing action resumes at Hully Gully, Sunday May 31. established on motocross circuit The 1987 House League Season is only two races old and already rivalries have been established between several competitors. London's' holeshot artist Steve Clayton won both starts. and it looked Bluewater CCB holds meeting CLINTON - The CC13 Club held their first Meeting of the season on April 21 in the Wesley -Willis United Church Hall. The meeting was opened with the national anthem, and a short prayer. Roll call was answered with everyone giving a name of a bird or a flower. During the business portion of the meeting, it was decided that 8 pan. on May 19 there would be a Dixie Lee Chicken and Salad Supper. Those planning to attend should phone 482-7406 no later than May 14. The entertainment involved all those pre- sent, telling what activities kept them busy during the winter months. A social get together followed. with lunch.
