BUNNY DAY - Students in Rita Core's Grade 1 class; at St..Patrick's School in Dublin,
had a bunny day Wednesday in anticipation for Easter. All activities during the day
centered around a bunny theme. In addition to learning all about rabbits Aimee DeVries
and Scott Schoonderwoerd had the opportunity to, hold these dwarf rabbits for the

Society to host plant sale May 16
The Seaforth Horticultural Society met at
Seaforth Public School April 8. President
- Luanne Phair welcomed everyone. The year
books were distributed and Luanne thanked
Dily's, Finnigan and her yearbook commit-
tee for an excellent job.
A bus trip is planned for Sunday, June 7 to
Norwich to see the iris display and other
points of interest in the area.
Nancy Kale reported the district 8 annual
meeting, which was held in Seaforth this
• year, was a success. She thanked the social,
registration, decorating and booklet com-
mittees for a job well done and comments
heard from visitors were "this was the best
one yet." Next year the meeting will be held
at Neustadt.
The society is having a booth at the Home
and Garden show this weekend. Members
are invited to work and donations of baking
and preserves are welcome.
The annual plant sale will be held May 16
and a bulb sale is planed in the fall.
The speaker for the evening was not able
to be present due to illness, so Margaret De-
Jongkindly agreed to speak on her recent
trip to Holland and Spain.
Margaret's talk was very interesting as

and birds in theircountries. The weather in
Holland was unusually cold so there were
not too many flowers out yet, but she was at
an orchid greenhouse where 35 acres of or-
chids were under lass. One .of the many
birds she saw and.enjoyed the most was the
English robin.
Spain is very hilly and they have done a lot
. of work terracing the hillside and olive and
almond trees are planted. The terracing and
fruit picking are all done manually.
Everyone in Spain has an orange or
grapefruit tree growing in their yard. '
The houses have no central heat and in
restaurants rabbit is popular on the menu.
The next meeting will be held. on May 13
and will be held at Maplewood' Manor.

will speak on Landscaping a small garden.
Madonna McQuaid
passes examination.
Madonna McQuaid passed Associate
(teacher's) in violin at Western Ontario
Conservatory of Music in London with a
mark of 83. Pat Burrows was the examiner,
a teacher at Western.
Miss McQuaid hopes to teach violin in
schools some day and, "give other students
the opportunity to enjoy music as I: have
But, I'm a long way from that goal yet. I
have to go two years to University and then
Teachers College."
Tri -county .Games
euchre held
The host committee of the Tri County
Senior Games, being held in Seaforth this
year, held a successful euchre at the
Seaforth Legion, April 14 at 7:30 pan.
Twenty-seven tables were in play.
Lucky winners were: ladies high, Hazel
Colquohoun, Mitchell; ladies lone hands,
Mary Riley, Seaforth; ladies consolation,
Irene Bisback, Seaforth; mens high, Henry
Hing, Mitchell; mens lone hands, Ernie
Harburn, Staffa; consolation, Lloyd Pipe;
ladies with most os, Thelma Pryce; men
with, most os, Art Finlayson and Eldest
gentleman present, Bert Walters, 84.
Door prizes were won by Edith McMillan,
John ItivGrace Broadfoot and Agnes
Russell.
The committee in charge were very pleas-
ed with the support they received from the
community.
Fees payment,
used for roll
The Seaforth Women's Institute held their
annual meeting at the home of Mrs., Sam
Scott. Mrs. Ross • Gordon chaired the
meeting.
The roll call was answered with the pay
-
mert of fees. Reports were given from all
the Standing Committee.
The slate of officers was read and Mrs.
James Keys installed the following officers:

dealt with and the meeting adjourned.
Agricrew programs
to start May 4
The Agricrew and Junior Agriculturalist
Programs will be starting in Perth County
in the very near future. Similar in all
respects to last year, a Youth Employment
Coordinator will be responsible for both pro-
grams. A coordinator will work out of the
Perth County Agriculture office and will
begin work on May 4.
Agricrews are teams of enthusiastic
students, 15-24 years of age, hired to work
for farmers from mid-June to mid-August.
The cost to the farmer will be $90 for an
eight hour day. Students interested in
Agricrew as a summer job should have
some farming experience and be capable of
hard physical labor. Students will- be paid
the provincial minimum wage.

JuninnAgriculturalistProgram should con-

OBITUARIES
CHARLIE DALYRMPLE
Charlie Dalrymple, of Huronview, Clin-
ton, and formerly of Egmondville, died Fri-
day, April 17, 1987. He was 68.
Mr. Dalyrrnple is survived by one sister,
Kay Clark of Glencoe; two step -brothers,
Arthur Varley of Seaforth and Robert
Varley of St. Catharines and one step -sister,
Doreen Chapelle of Egmondville.
He was predeceased by one brother
William, one sister Dora and one step-
brother George.
A private family service was held at the
Whitney-Ftihey funeral home in Seaforth. In-
terment Exeter Cemetery.
W. JAMES CHESNEY
W. • James Chesney, of 10 Erskine
Avenue, Toronto, died Tuesday, April 14,
1987 at Toronto General Hospital. He was78,
Mr. Chesney is survived by his wife, the
former Margaret Hutchinson and one sister,
Mrs. W.K. Ainent (Billy) of Waterloo. Also
surviving are several nieces and nephews.
Mr. Chesney was predeceased by his
parents, Wit. and Mrs. Pearson Mure
Cheariey; brothers Hugh and Edwin; and•
sisters Mary, Janet, Jessie, Bertha and
Laura.
Mr. Chesney serviced overseas with the
RCAF in World War II.
Following crernatitin, interment will take
place in Maitlandbank Cemetery, Scaferth
on Thursday.
. WILFRED AHRENS
Wilfred Ahrens, of Brodhagen, died at his
residence Tuesday, April 14, 1987, He was
75. •
Mr. Ahrens was born at Brodhagen on
March 30, 1912, a son of the Late Charles
Ahrens and the former Rachel Weserberg.
On April 29, 1939 he maned the former
Maude Irene Pruetet,
Mr. Ahrens hat done custom farm work in
the area and had operated Wilf Ahrens
Garage irs Brodhageti true 1948 alibi his
retirement in 1977.
He was a member of St: Peter's Lutheran
Church, Brodhagen and had seryed on the
church council. He was a founding member
of the Brodhagen Chamber of Commerce; a
mdinher of the Golden Rule Lodge No. 420
IOOF, Monkton and was a former member
of the Mitchell Lions Club.
In addition to his wife Mr. Ahrens is sur-
vived by three sons, Clayton and his wife,
Pamela, Robert and his wife Dianne, and
Ken, all of Burlington.
Also surviving are, one brother Donald
and his wife Linda of Burlington and three
granddaughters, Elizabeth, Melanie and
Catherine,
Friends were received at the Lockhart,
Funeral Home where funeral services were
held on Thursday with Rev. Arthur Horst
officiating.
Pallbearers were Harvey Ahrens, Reg
Badley, Roger Siemon, Mervyn Leonhardt,
Mike Kell& and Jim Bauer. Interment was in
St. Peter's Lutheran Cemetery, Brodhagen.
PATRICIA DAWN CLAIM
Patricia (Trish) Dawn Clark, of Walton,
died Friday, April 17, 1987 at her hotne. She
was nine years of age.
Born in Listowel Trish was the daughter
of Bruce and Pam (MacGillivray) Clark.
She attended the Walton Public School, was
a member of the Walton ball team, a
member of Duff's United Church Sunday
School and Junior Choir and the Bnissels
Ringe!te tearn.
Trish is survived by her parents and two
brothers, Jim and Greg, at home.
Also surviving are her grandparents,
John and Lena MacGillivray of StOkesbay.
She was predeceased by grandparents
Jini and Kathleen Clark, formerly of
Walton:
Friends visited at the Brussels Chapel of
the M.,L. Watts Funeral Homes and a
funeral was held Sunday at Duff's United
Church with the Reverend Bonnie La.mble
officiating. IntermentBrussels Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Wayne Todd, 'Roger
Humphries, Tom Leming and Jeff Rath.
