The congregation of Hensall, United
Church met Pali Sunday under the leader-
ship of George Cowan. Helve Fuse, was at
the organ and Debbi Wood, junior 'choir
director, at the piano.
The 21;voice junior choir: delighted the
congregation With the ,•topical number
"Jerusalem" and, later in the sei'yice, the
senior choir sang "Hosanna!, Blessed is
• He."
Mr. Cowan explained the events of Holy
Week to the children, showing them pictures
from an illustrated` Bible. The sermon was.
on "Blessed is he who•cometh in the name of
the Lord.", .. • -
Greeting the congregation.was Cecil Pep-
per and ushers-were,—Dennis-Mar-tin;-Lloyd
Ferguson, Randy Parker and Rod Parker.
The congregation will meet again,on Maun-
dy, Thursday, April, 16, at 7:30 p.m. with
Rev. Pickett conducting the Sacrament of
Communion. The Sunrise Service will be
held at 7 a.m. on Easter Sunday morning,
followed by breakfast at 7:30.
A yellow potted Mum plant graced the
Communion Table in celebration of Dianne
and Hans Gerstenkorn's • 25th wedding
anniversary.

The Hensel) Pres. Church Women met at
Jan Baker's on Monday, April 6. Thirteen
members answered the roll call with a "sign
of spring."
Jan gave the worship "The Easter Story"
taken from St. John's Gospel and "He is.
Risen". She also read an interesting story

The Hensall Minor Hockey Association
held its annual awards night ai 1 potluck

Following a bountiful . feast, master of
ceremonies Ron Hartman welcomed the'
players and their families to the get-
together and then introduced Treasurer An-
dy 'manse
n-dy'manse who gave a brief financial; report.
and Association President Peter Groot, who
brought the members up to date on club
business.
Guest speakers for the evening were Lon-
don Knight's goalie Steve Titus arid team-
mate Wayne Smith. Both young men enter-
tained the youngsters and parents with their
tales of life on a Junior A'team, but stressed
the value of a good education.
The guests stayed for .the entire program
and gladly signed autographs and' answered
questions.
The most important partofthe evening
was, of course, the presentation of awards.
Each player on all five teams received a
team and an individual picture as well as a
round -of applause from proud parents.
Coaches gave some very encouraging ad-
vice to all of the young players and special
awards were given out as follows: Tyke,
Ryan Munn, Most Improved Player; Jeff
Solway, Most Sportsmanlike Player; and
Mark Bell, Most. Valuable Player. Novice,
Ryan Imanse, MIP; Ray Beierling, MSP
and Blaine Moir, MVP. Atom, Shawn Lovell,
MIP; Greg Dalrymple, MSP and Brian
Gardner, MVP. PeeWee, Sean Kyle, MIP;
Rob Smale, MSP and Chris Gardner, MVP.
4-H group creates food mix
The Kippen 3 - "Sixteen Survivors" held
their third meeting March 3 at Brucefield
Church. A food mixer, a robot, and a vase of
flowers were created during an activity call-
ed "Build it". Members were divided into
three groups and given some drinking
straws, pins, styrofoam cups, and construc-
tion paper. -
The purpose of this activity was to see how
,decisions were made by a group. Decisions
made are based on values, standards, and
goals. Members discussed how to spend
money wisely, and how to keep ourselves
safe. Through role playing we also learned'
how to handle obscene phone calls and
strangers at the door. Hostesses were

South, Huron Y.F.C. held their April 'rally
at Centennial School, Brucefield on. April 4
with a good attendance. Director Ron
Westlake opened the rally with a singsong.
Sharon Parker was the pianist. Ron led the
group in prayer. Quizzing time followed on
John 5, 1-21, and the results were Exeter
first, Clinton' second, and.Goderich third. In
May they will quiz on John 2 and 3. These.'
will be the finals, and trophies will .be
presented. The guest speakerwill be ;Rev.
Austin . Gedke from Orangeville. Special
music by Robert and Diane Steckle.
The "Masters Quartette" from Kingston
took over the rally at this point to the delight.

vacuuming, and how to clean out the
refrigerator. Junior leader Julie Healy led a
discussion on dishwashing and safety in the
kitchen. Hostesses were Theresa Van Doorp

The 6th meeting of Kippen 3 "Sixteen Sur-
vivors"
ur-vivors" was held March 31 at Brucefield
Church. After' opening the meeting the
members and leaders proceeded to Hensall
Shell Garage owned by Gary Kyle. Three
groups were formed each learning how to
change a tire. Later members were shown
under the hood, and learned how to change
the oil, ,transmission' fluid, anti freeze and
'brake fluid. They were shown what 'the
radiator does and what to put in it. And then
they were treated to donuts and a drink. All
received a pen and a hat. Gary Kyle was
thanked and presented with a gift by i nn
Moffat.
Members returned to Brucefield Church
to complete the meeting. There they talked
about an exhibit for Achievement Night on
May 6, at 7:30 p.m. in St. Joseph's School in
Clinton. The exhibit is entitled "This is the •
way we wash our clothes." A snack was pro-
vided by hostesses Barb Fotheringliam and
Julie Healy. Press reporter for this meeting

The Kiplien Community acquired an addi-
tion on Fnday, April 3, when little Amanda
Jane was born.

Church News
Palm Sunday was celebrated at St. An-
drews United Church, Kippen, April 12. The
choir sang an anthem "He Died in my
Place". Palm branches were placed on the
cross at the front of the church. Palms Were
also distributed to the boys and girls during
the children's story. Thanks to Father
Caruana for donating the palm branches to
St. Andrews. Rev. Lorne keays sermon sub-
ject was "The Real King":
