Public School students enjoy March break
• School has been back in for over a week,
but memories of this year's March break are
Still -vivid in the minds of S.P.S, students,
Their activities during the vacation break
ranged from "sleeping in" to "retreating to
far -away isles in the sunny south."
Here are samples of ways students and
their families spent the break:
we went to Philadelphia and saw the
liberty Bell and St. Joseph's University

... Dad and I went fishing at Port Albertt I spent two days visiting my mom

Girls travel to provincials

Sudbury for the Provincial Championships
over the weekend. Representing the Region.
Central West the team met the Eastern
(Cornwall) team in the first game and played
to a 0-0 tie in regulation time, forcing an
overtime decision. The Eastern Club scored
in that extra stanza to win the genie 1-0.
Central W est then met North Central in
.--game two and won 4-0. Goals were scored by ,
Sandra Mclnally, Tammy Kennedy and Pam
Carter, who scored two. •
On Saturday night Central West met North
• East and defeated them 2-0. Goals.came from
Sandra Mclnally and Pam Carter.
• On Sunday morning Central W est again
met the Eastern squad to determine the gold
medal winner. Again the regular game went
scoreless and again an overtime period was
necessary.
This time however the Eastern Club came
up strong and defeated Central West 370 in
• overtime. The Eastern Club took home the
gold medal and Central W est came home
with the silver medal. The bronze went to the.
North East. The most valuable player award,
• for the tournament went to Central West's
player Pam Carter.

always close but due to the expertise of Mark
Bell with four goals and Jeff Campbell with a
single, they held on to win.
• Eric Groot provided first class goaltending
for all three games and the three coaches -

The Tyke team came through the entire 86-87
season without a loss in any game. Well
done!
The Novice team did not fare as well. They
had no trouble defeating Goderich blue on
Saturday morning with a score of 4-1. Scoring
for Hensall were Blair Moir, two, Chris

Returning to Huron Park at noon on
Saturday the Novice team ran into the Zurich
white team and lost 4-1 in a hard fought
game. Danny Taylor scored the lone Hthsall
goal.
The Novice team also had an excellent
season, finishing at the top of the standings.
Saturday night.the Hensall Pee W ees. beat
Parkhill 5-2 in their final game to become
"A" champs. The "B" title went to Zurith
who beat Lambeth 6-0.
Later in the evening the Hensall Bantams
had their turn in the spotlight as they
defeated St. Marys 8-7 in a hard fought,
penalty ridden game. The Hensall.team were
crowned "A" champs while St. Marys settled
for the "B',' title.
• PERSONALS .
• Christie O'Neill, London, visited for a few
days with her'grandmother Audrey Christie.
• Congratulations taJeff and Tena McKay of
Queen Street on the birth of a daughter on St.
Patric.les Day.
• There will be a second registration for
Minor Softball' on Saturday, April 4 from
10-11 a.m. at the Hensall Arena.
• Also coming up is Men's slow pitch. They
will hold their registration on Thursday, April
2 at 8.p.m. at the Hensall Legion. •
