Legion cribbage tournament held
•
' The District Cribbage tournament held
' Saturday in Mount Forest drew teams from
all four Zones. Seaforth Branch had three
, teams entered, two of which qualified for the •
Provincial finals to be held in Seaforth on
.Saturday; April 25. Some 52 teams will be
present representing branches from all
districts that form Ontario Command. Sea-
forth's teams, consisted of Bob 'Doig, Ed
• Baker, Ken Barry and Jack Muir, who came
in second, and Bill Harris, Mel Melanson,
Bob Watson and David Watson' who secured
a• sixth place finish. The third team of Don
Eaton, Jack Eisler, Bill Wilbee and Al,
Nicholson were not so fortunate to place in
the winner's circle. We, were very lucky to
• have two teams to compete at Provincial
finals. Last year one team won the Provincial
final, thus giving Seaforth the opportimity to
host this year's final.
Close to 150 people availed themselves of
• the beef barbecue and dance held Saturday at
' the Branch, Once- again on behalf of the
• members the usual thank -you to John and his
entertainment committee and Ron William-
son for his expertise at the barbecue is
extended. These barbecues have proved very
popular over the past year.
The Zone Public Speaking contest was held
recently at .the Clinton Legion, but the
• Seaforth entries were not successful in
winning a chance to compete at the District
level It is hoped next' year the contestants
will be more fortunate.

' direction the Legion will take as Veterans
become fewer in number every year.
