With input'., from the, Ontario Ministry of Agriculture and. Food staff, commodity' group representatives, chemical retailers and 'other invited guests, the Directors' passed the following resolution: ' ' "Whereas, the use of agricultural pesti- tides potentially, can affect both 'users and non-users, and .Whereas, the use 'and availability • of agricultural cehmicals is coming under greater scrutiny, Therefore., be it resolved "Some 'type of legislation be Passed. to compel anyone purchasing chemi- cals, to first complete an Awareness. Course on Pesticide Usage, Toxicity and efficacy, but legislation must first provide for.thorough - user input and approval .before passing." The" Resolution was forwarded to the parent association, Ontario Farm Safety' Association Incorporated, asking for their support of the. motion. In keeping with their motto that safety should be first and foremost, in everyone's mind, they lent their support to ' "Parents for Daycare" encouraging munici- palities and the County towns to encourage the establishment of DaycarCentres. In' keeping with the trend of the meeting to promote safety, the Directors also passed a • resolution requesting the Provincial Govern- ment to establish •a grant program to make'' funds available to individual farm operations for the purchase of safety related equipment. In other business, the Directors authorized the purchase of 150 signs with the.slogan "Caution Go Slowly," These signs are approximately 11 r' x 17" printed on.a yellow weather-proof backing. Marjorie Coleman in' charge of devotions offered scripture and'read an article entitled "The-Emanus Road," Edna Wilson gave a reading 'The Master is Coming.'. • Guest speaker was Jane Papple who gave an interesting report of her weekend at Toc Alpha., Seven hundred young people attend- ed and Jane said how many of the workshops were informative and a learning experience. 'Jane also attended "The February Event" held in Exeter where the.guest speaker'was Jim Taylorwhose theme "Relationships with Yourself, Others and God" proved very stimulaling,�.�._,,,,..•,. •-n•,� . • Marjorie thanked Jane and presented her with a gift.
