The weekend of March 15, the Seaforth
Novice boys , took part in a tournament in
Listowel.
The boys were up early to play their first
game at 8 a.m. Sunday morning against
Drayton. They were up but were they awake?
They seemed to be down on the ice as much as
they were skating. Finally at 5:23 Mark Van
Dooren accepted a pass from behind the net
tristart the scoring for Seaforth. This goal was
assisted •by Jason Henderson and Boyd
Devereaux.
Only one minute later Mike Hugill assisted
by Shaun Anstett scored number two for
Seaforth. Drayton came back with one goal to
end the first period 2-1 for Seaforth. Neither.
team had any get up and go in the second
period. After a rest between periods Boyd
Devereaux single-handedly on a break away
at 2:32 into the third, scored' Two minutes
later Drayton caught goalie Scott Wood off
guard to count number two for their team.
Seaforth, well awake now, showed they could
do it with two more unassisted goals by Mike
Hugill and Boyd Devereaux. The final score
was 5-2 Seaforth over Drayton.
GAME2
Seaforth met up. with Liman in game 2.
They knew they had to be on the puck for this
game. After Wean beat them out at the
Silverstick in Michigan, the boys wanted to
prove they could also come out ahead and did
just that.
The first period was one battle of back and
forth competition, but remained scoreless. At
8:53 of the second Jason Henderson's speed
allowed him a clear shot at Lucan's goalie but
he managed to keep it out however close
behind was Pat Gridzak who scored on the
rebound. Four minutes later Steven Mclnally
scored single-handedly after a burst of
speed up the ice along the boards and then
managedlo score again, on a pass from Shaun
Anstett. third period was full of great
moves, stf&-hUdlitirand trisses for both
teams. Lucan's MikeW ragg assisted by Josh
Appleman scored their first goal at 6 :31 of the
last period and couldn't manage to buy even
one more off goalie Scott Wood. Seaforth
winning 3-1 over Wean. This.meant going to
the finals against Belmont.
The day was a long one, playing the
Championship Ome at 7:30 p.m. Seaforth

both teams working hard to get in that first
important goal. Bit when the buzzer went off
indicating the period was over, the score
remained 0-0.

period. The first goal, scored on a power play,
was netted by Boyd Devereaux and assisted
