Hobbies and crafts were the focuS of
attention atMaplewood Manor. the latter part
Of this week, •
On Monday bowling „wai Pete Tremeer's
interest. Pete will definitely win a prize for
consistency in bowling. •
Monday was also the day residents
welcomed Ann Henderson for a convalescent'
stay. Helen and Ray 'Henderson and .family
-helped her move in and get settled.
Tuesday afternoon was spent playing
euchre. Betty Hulley and Mary Chapple were
the volunteer tielpers. Charles Bemister
first time quihers were stitching along the
lines.
b' Friday Terry1/4 Brintnell, teacher of
family .,;Ludies at SIMS, accompanied
students from h'et grade 11 plass for a tour of
'the,Maplewood fatility. Her students will be
regular visitors toldaplewood. Each resident
will have the assistance of a student on a
weekly basis for such things as letter writing,
crossword puzzles and shopping.
On f riday, Mayor Alf Ross visited
Maplewood Manor and met with owner of the
facilit.Ph' and his assistant, Jan
Straw.

-McGonigle and Mrs. Gardiner. After the
service they visited with some of the
residents. .
• Also on Wednesday morning ,Del? .Melady
and Glen Rae students of SDHS came to
Maplewood to start, a •physical fitness
prograrn for the residents. Once a week from
. 9:30 to 10:15 residents will perform exercises
to improve and maintain good muscle tone
and joint movement. It should be lots of fun as
they try to do the exercises in time to the
music. '
• Wednesday evening everyone•enjoyed the
Lions T.V. Bingo. The winner - of the
Maplewood Bingo prize was Agnes Hunter.
Volunteers this week were Marj. Maloney
and Anne Downey. Volunteers and friends
were .brought to Pdaplewoed by Junior
Farmer Lynda Feagan.
Woodworking and quilting are two hobbies'
that were introduced this week. In the
woodworking department, Ed Andrews
showed residents different items that can' be
• made. KeithSnell, industrial arts teacher at
Seaftsrth Public School, 0164 the
shapes out .of wood. Then residents will
• assemble the different . pieces to make a-
: child's chair, a bird house or a condiment
holder.

residents worked at getting a quilt ready for
sewing. It was soon at that ,stage and even

Seaforth Manor residents went bowling at
Starlight Lanes on Monday, and on Tuesday
wheelchair residents were helped to bowl by
students Of the Seaforth Public School.
Tuesday afternoon was spent watching a
film on the lifestyles in Scotland and one on
honeymooners visiting Niagara Falls.
Wednesday afternoon residents ' made
things for St. Patrick's' Day.
Thursday morning TMrs. Helm instructed
residents on what they should do in case of a
fire.
Food supervisor Carol Gilck also met with
residents on Thursday afternoon. The' men
played euchre while the ladies cared for their
flowers.
Teacher Terri Brintnell brotight her high
school class in for a tour.
On Friday morning exercises and current
events were held.
Mary picked a little bunch of snowdrops
and showed residents the *hist flowers of
spring.
The afternoon was spent playin.

Isabel Scott was in to visit her husband Bill

out for a Sunday afternoon drive.
