purchased • the residence of Mr. Josiah
Watson, in Egmondville, for $940, and
intends coming there to live about the middle .
of April. Mr. Elgie has had an active,
prosperous life, and he now intendsspending
the remainder of hisdays in the enjoyment of
the fruits of his labor. •
On Tuesday, Mr. 'Simon • McKenzie of
Tuckersmith, while calling at the residence of
Rev. Mr. Ross, of Brumfield, tied his°horse to
a fence. The animal got frightened and broke.

competition. at the Farnr.Show in London :last ,
weekend.. The " competition •attracted an
estimated 1,200 entries, representing West-

Thirty -two lady curlers participated in a•,
local 'spiel Wednesday afternoon 'and 'eve-
n!ning, Two -eight --,end games' -were -played, -wit
supper being served between the two games.
A rinkskipped by Miss Alice Reid, won top
honors with 20 points: The rink included,
Mrs. •B.R.' Thomson, 'Mrs,' Don' Morton and
Mrs. Jack Muir. Second place went to Mrs.
W illiatn Leyburn's rink of Mrs. Glenn
Chesney, Mrs, F.R. Cosford and Mrs. Terry
Atkinson, with 18;5.points.

Hume Douglas 'Campbell, formerly of
Brucefield, ,died; Friday, March 6, 1987 at
University Hospital, London. He was 85. 'Mr. Campbell is survived'by his wife, the
former Helen F: Scott; sons,,. Donald ' S.
Campbell of RR2 Engleharti Robert Kenneth
Campbell ' of - Strathroy, and John Ross
Campbell of landon;.daughters, Helen: (Mis.
Frank Collver) of RR 1 Hyde' Park; Anne
(Mrs. Robert Harrison)of.London, and Susan
Diane (Mrs: Murray Anderson) of Quesnel,
British Columbia; and one daughter-in-law
Maisie,(Mrs. Hume Campbell) of Englehart.
• Also surviving are 22 grandchildren and 19
great grandchildren; a brother Kenneth
Campbell, of Komoka and sister Mildred
(Mrs. Hubert Scott) of Belmont. •
Mr, Campbell was predeceased by ,two
sons, Hume and Daniel; 'and five brothers,
Gordon, Ross, Bruce, Stewart . and Allen
Campbell. •
Mr. Campbell rested at the „Denning
Brothers Funeral Home, Strathroy where the
funeral service was held on Monday,; March
9. The Reverend Donald W ikinson officiated.
Interment was in 'Dorchester UniOn Corm-.
tery.
As expressions of sympathy donations to

•• BERNARDUSWESTERVELD.
• Bernardus Westerveld -of Clinton and
formerly of Seafotth died Tuesday, March 3,
1987 at the University Hospital, London. He
was 68. ' •
Mr, Westerveld married Mina Heyinkin
Aalten, The Netherlands on Jure 6, 1946, On
April 6, 1952 Mr. and Mrs. Westerveld and
• their two children immigrated to Canada,
settling in the Blyth area. In 1958. the family
moved to 'a farm at RR 1 Seaforth.
In 1978, Mr. Westerveld retired, and the
family moved to Seaforth. They moved to
Clinton in October 1983. ' •
Besides his wife Mr. Westerveld is surviv-
ed by daughters; Jane and her husband
Lawrence Bilkes of The Netherlands, Elaine
and her husband Harry Zwep of Dundas and
Wilma and her husband William Koopman
of London; and sons John and his wife
Monica of RR 1 Londesboro and Andrew' of
Cambridge.
Also surviving Are 10 grandchildren and
two sisters. Grads Wevers and 'Hanna to

Susan Jane Leonhardt, of Nice, France and
formerly of Seaforth, died in Rio -De Janeiro,
Brazil on:February 28, 1987 as the result of an,
accident. '
A•daughterof Lester and Betty (Matthews)
Leonhardt of Seaforth, Susan had a Bachelor ,
of Landscape Architecture degree and was
well known and respected for her work in that
area. She had previously worked'forthe Town
of Seaforth, then spent four years in Tehran.
She had been working in Nice for the past
eight years.
- Besides her parents Susan is survived by a
brother • Brian and ' his wife Karen, •of
Shakespeare.
The family received- friends at the W hit-
ney-Ribey Funeral Home 'in Seaforth until
Saturday and Sunday. A Mass of the
Christian Burial was held at St. James Roman
Catholic Church, Seaforth. Parish prayers
were held at the funeral home on Saturday
evening. Spring interment, St., James'
Cemetery, Seaforth.
Pallbearers were Gary Nicholson, Brian
Whiteside, Doug Leonhardt, Vern. Sawyer,
Gerry Lavis and Don Matthews.

A former owner of the Dominion Hotel in
Zurich "Tubby" is survived by his wife, the

Merner) of Zurich and Carol (Mrs: Rick. '

Also surviving is a Sister Ruth (Mrs. Ernest
Gemming ) of Mount Dora, Florida, and seven

Kathy, Randy and Terry. . .

Zurich Chapel of •Michael P. O'Connor
