which will be held in Seaforth on June 22 and
23, 1987 Come out for fun, prizes and
refreshments. Everybody is welcome. Don't
forget to wear your "green."
The Seaforth Recreation Department will
be hosting a MARCH BREAK PROGRAM for
children in Grades 4 to 8. This program is
designed to give your child five exciting days
during the mid winter break (March 16 to
March 20). The schedule is as follows:
Monday, March 16.9-12'noon, Sports and
Games; 1-3 p.m. Public Skating; 3-4 p.m.
Flim. Tuesday, March 17 - 9-12 noon Bowling
at' Starlight Lanes; 1-4 p.m. Sports and
Games. Wednesday, March 18 - 9-12 noon
VCR movies; 1-3 p.m. Public Skating; 3-4
p.m. V.C.R. Movies: Thursday, March 19 -
9-10:30 a.m. Sports and Games; 10:30-12
noon "That Scatterbrain Booky Show"; 1-3
p'.m. Swimming; 3-4 - film. Friday, March 20
- 9-10, Arts and Crafts ; 10-12, Public Skating;
1-4 p.m. Children's Choice.
The program will take place at the Seaforth
and District Community Centres (unless
otherwise specified). The week of fun and
excitement will cost $25 for the full week or
Petites would have to beat to continue to be in
the running.• The two teams met -in Seaforth
on Sunday, with lots of spectators on hand to -
encourage ,andcheer their teams on.

Cheryl. Mcllwain listened to her Coaches'
adviceand made sure she got the first goal of
the night, assisted. by Kelly Rau. and Carrie
McUUwain
This appeared to throw Mitchell off guard
for the first -five minutes of the •period, but
they rebounded to get their first goal. Cheryl'
Mchwain wasn't to be undone however and
pumped in..another, assisted by Carrie
McIlwain. In a final tug-of-war in the last
minutes of the period, Mitchell gained their
second goal but Seaforth came out_ahead 3-2
when Cheryl. McLlwain got her third goal,
unassisted.
Tension was running high as the second
period found Mitchell evening up the •score.
But Carrie McUwain, kept right on working
and popped ina goal, assisted by 'Tricia
Smith. ..
Unfortunately Mitchell wasn't done yet
and got one more goal past goalie Angie
Jervis but in the last four minutes of play
neither team could get a goal pasttheir
opponents' goaltender.
In the second round of: playoffs, a tied game
is not broken so both, teams came away a
winner, 4-4, andSeaforth awaits outcome
of the Exeter -Mitchell match

• On Thursday, March 19 of this program the
Library is .bringing in the Cascade Theatre
Company to perform "THAT SCATTER-
BRAIN
CATTERBRAIN BOOKY. It is about a 10 -year-old
girl growing up in Toronto in. the 1930s.
Cascade Theatre's production of the Cana-
dian novel explores, with the audience, the
life of this spunky young girl and her family,
at a time when things,.were'known as hard•
Admission is $1.00 and the show time is 10:30
a.m. at the Arena. (Suitable for children 8 to
12 years).
Ray and Bone Puppet Theatre brings their
imaginative production of. TUG-OF-WAR to
the Blyth Memorial Hall on Saturday, March
28 at 2:00 p.m. Using live actors, hand -carved
puppets, toys and live music, husbandand
wife team of John Nolan and Kathy
MacLellan have created a moving drama
which encourages children to think about the
meaning of families.

In the first round of W OAA group playoffs
Seaforth met Zurich in Zurich and beat the
home team 4-3. Scoring for Seaforth were:
Brad Moore with two goals, Mike Coyne with
one and Mike Moylan with one: An assist

Zurich's goals were scored by Ken Rau
with one, Jamie Ramer with two goals.

On Wednesday Seaforth played host to
Zurich and defeated themin overtime 6-4.

This year's version of the Seaforth Golden
Bears has played its last game. The seniors
won their.irst game in the WOSSA playoffs
against Glencoe, but were defeated 58-46 by
Parkhill.
The Golden Bears have captured the
WOSSA "A" title five of the past six yea's.
There Were hopes it would happen again, but
they did not last long. Even the return of
centre Ron Vercruysseh, from the Canada
Games was not enough.
Vercruyssen, a 6 foot 10 inch Grade 13
student had just returned from Sidney, Nova
Scotia where the Ontario team finished
fourth. The gold medal went to the host team,
while Quebec picked up the silver, and
British Columbia earned the bronze. The
Ontario team was expected to do well, and it
May have been that pressure that weakened
the team.
Despite his team's rather poor showing,
Vercruyssen says it was definitely a reward-
ing experience. As for relationships with rival
athletes, he says "at the beginning all the
athletes sized each other up,.but after a while
we all got along." Vercruyssen also stated all
athletes were treated very well by everyone
involved.
The provincial government gave all Ontar-
io athletes track suits, gym bags, and other
• items. Brooks, a major athletics company also
contributed to the team, including free shoes
for all basketball players.
For Vercruyssen the WOSSA tournament
marked the end of a successful high school
basketball career. He will be taking his court
skill south to an American university next
September. -
Seaforth Tweens lose in final
Seaforth Tweeds fated off against Exeter
on Sunday in the final round of the best two

Once again Seaforth started the scoring in
the second period with a goal by Tracey
Fortune assisted by Susan Rowcliffe. Exeter
didn't give up•and they tallied two more goals
to win the game 5-4. Scoring for Exeter were
Becky Morgan with two goals, Julie Meurer
with two goals and a single went to Beta
Farquhar"
All the Seaforth girls -played an excellent
game, especially Andrea Ribey who played
an outstanding gar= in net and kept her team
'n the game until the final minutes. Also
deserving a lot of credit were the girls who

the trip will be $6 which includes the show
tickets and the bus ride. The bus will leave

LADIES DANCE PROGRAM will begin on .
Wednesday, March 11 at 7 p.m. at the arena.
This program will include an introduction' to
three dance forms, ballet, folk and jazz, with
the greatest emphasis on jazz. It will
incorporate stretching, flexibility, endurance
and aerobics and teach dance techniques,
terminology and choreography.
This is not a dancercize, it is a structured
dance program. No prior dance experience is
necessary, just a genuine enjoyment of
moving to current music.

After beating Zurich two games to none in
first rOund of Group playoffs Seaforth moved
on to the second round, best three out of five
series against Mitchell. The first game Friday
in Mitchell saw Seaforth defeat Mitchell in
overtime 5-3.
Scoring for Seaforth were Ken Hildebrand
with the hat trick,, Wayne Schoonderwoerd•
with one goal and one assist. Mike Weber
with one goal. Assists also went to Jeff Ryan
with one and Mike Devereaux with one.
Mitchell goals were scored by Dennis
Pearn with one, Mike Seiler with one and
Shawn Vosper with one, Assists went to
Richie Horan with three. Shawn Vosper with
one and Mike Hodgert with one.
On Saturday Seaforth travelled to St.
Marys for an exhibition game and were
defeated by a 2-0 score. Scoring for St. Marys
were Jason Martin assisted by Mike
Fairbanks and Paul Taylor and Paul Taylor
assisted by Dean Sorenson and Steve
Hudson.
BOWLING continues every Wednesday
afternoon from 1:30 to 4 p.m. Everybody
