CARDS CANCELLED
The Hail. Board card party schedules for
January 23 was called off owing tpweather
conditions. The Foresters are hosting a card
party in the Community Centre on January 30
at 8:30 p.m.

Fifteen members of the Walton Women's
Institute met in the hall basement Wednes-
day evening, January 21.
The first part of the meeting was conducted
-by first • vice-president Marion, Godkin,
opening by the usual manner, 'followed with
reading a poem. Margaret Shortreed read
minutes and•took the roll call, then gave•the
-treasurer's report.
The Institute reported agood crowd to their
noon luncheon that day, it was decided to
have' a turkey luncheon for March 18.
Letters of correspondence were read. An
' invitation from Blyth •institute to attend their
• afternoon dessert euchre on February 5 was
received. A car load plan to go.
The 90th anniversary, Building for Tomor-
row of the Federated Women's Institute of -
Ontario will be held in North Bay. Leona
McDonald will attend as branch delegate.
Conveners for Citizenship and World
Affairs topk over for their program. Berva
Watson gave different quotations on • birth -
+days, federation and 'very interesting facts
about immigrants and how they get 'heir
English language, leaving us with a thought.
If you only give complaints, don't expect any,
compliments. Margaret Craig gave same
worthwhile neWs on Current Events.
Helen Craig conducted the rest of the
business. It was moved to' cater to, a dinner -for
Cook's on March 2, The birthday party at
_Callander. Nursing Home in 'Brussels to be
put on sometime in March. •
Leona: McDonald brought back a report
from the district executive meeting •held
recently. The district annual meeting will be
.held May 10 at Molesworth. Institute
• calenders for 1987' are -still available. The
euchre for this Thursday night January 29
will begin at 8 p.m. Hostesses have been
changed to Mary Humphries, Elva Bolger
and Helen. Craig.
It was passed to put in a new countertop on
the servingtable and for a dusk to dawn light
to be put in at the front of the hall, also put a
new entry light inside at the bottom entrance.
A motion was to have the meal out for the
annual meeting in April. The furnace should
be checked and possibly cleaned.
The nominating committee to bring in the
new slate of officers are Helen Craig, Maxine
Marks and Mary Humphries.
Donuts and tea were served by hostesses,
'Margery Huether and Margaret Shortreed.
