The January meeting of the Hibbert United
Church Won* took place in the Family Life
Centre, beginning with a potluck lunch.
• Ada Pethick was chairperson for the

For the program, most of the ladies present
contributed with readings and musical
numbers. These were enjoyed by all. The
treasurer's annual report was read, as well as
the card secretary's report for the year just
ended. • •
Pennies which have • been ' collected
throughout 1986 will be given to the 'Seeds
for Zaire' project.
' Thank you letters were read from several
persons receiving flowers from the United
Church Women at Christmas.
The ladies were reminded of the Huron -
Perth Presbyterial being held in •Mitchell
United Church later this month and also of
the "First National Gathering" for Women of
• the United Church in July at the University of
Waterloo.

purpose of the United Church, Women
became "to unite women of the congregation
for the total mission of the church, and to
provide a medium through which they could
express their loyalty and devotion to Jesus
Christ in Christian witness, study, felloWship
and service."
The congregation was welcomed by Doris
Jeffery and Ella Vivian. Deborah Hoekstra,
pastor'of the church, began the service with
the Call to Worship. She called 'on -Gwen
Harburn, Clerk of Session, and Lorne Fell,
Chairman of the Stewards, who both brought
messages of congratulations and thanks to
the United Church Women. Florence Mc-
Phail led the responsive reading and also
gave the Scripture reading.
M iss Hoekstra told the children's story and
special music was providea by the ladies
choir with Mary P. Dow accompanying on the
organ.
The message "Called' tb Respond", the
anniversary theme. was given by Margaret
Kemp.
Offenng was received by Patti Taylor and
Marjoiie Johns. The' responsive Prayer of
Intercession was led by Helen Fell.
A candle lighting ceremony took place,
with three candles representing the past, the
present. and the future. These candles were
lit by Marjorie Drake, ilia Barker and Barbara
Pullmah. The commissioning and Benedic-
tion were pronounced by Miss iloekstra.

At time of writing Frank Miller is a patient
in SL Joseph's Hospital. London. We wish
him a good recovery. '
