East Wawanosh, Nov. 28th, 1904. Presbytery of Maitland held the reg- ular meeting in Wingham on Tuesday of this week. Report of the proceed ings will appear in our next issue. Successful anniversary services were held in the Wingham Methodist Church, on Sunday last, Rev. Jos. Philp, B.D. of Kincardine preaching appropriate sermons. On Monday evening the anneal tea meeting and entertainment was held and was a success. Rev. Mr. Philp gave his interesting lecture on "Picnicing in Palestine." Rev. Dr. Gundy took Mr. Philip's pulpit work at Kincardine Rev. Mr. Perrie of Wingham preached a temperance sermon on. Sunday even- ing. It was one of the finest and best throughout that we have listened to for years. Its very mildness gave exceil- tional strength. A. J. Simpson, of Whitechurch, who has passed his final examination. —The bakery btlliness which has been carried on in town by Mr. Wm. Moore will be discontinued for the winter months. Mr.,,E. Moore will continue to handle bread, and will still be in position to supply his customers at the store. —Mr. D. McKinlay has been danger- ously ill during the past week and his sickness caused his friends much anxiety bat we are pleased to learn that there has been a change for the better and hope Mr. McKinlay may soon be able to be around again. —Dr. Thos. Tanner was suffocated in his rooms by fire on Saturday night at Saginaw, Mich. He was born 37 years ago in Holstein, Ont., and was unmar- ried. He was a man of high Iiterary attainments. It is said that Dr. Tanner was a former resident of Blyth. —Mr. D. Stewart, who bas been a resident of Wingham for upwards of thirty yenta intends leaving in a few weeks for Los Angles, Cali., where the family will reside in future. Pogson, one of the oldest subscribers to the TIME 'renewed his subscription for 1305 last week. Mr. Pogson is smart and active for a man in his eighties and has never been bed fast for more than Half a day through illness.
