DKA,rn.-We exceedingly regret having to
record the death of Alise Courtice; only daugh-
ter of Mr. L.J. Courtice. of the 7th con. which
sad event occurred on Friday last. Deceased
was a young lady of estimable qualities, and
her very pleasant social disposition had
made for her a large number of friends, more
particularly among ithe younigpeople of the
township, and she will be very greatIT missed
by her former associates. Her remains were
interred in Clinton cemetery, on Monday.
KINBURN.
TEA MEETING. -A grand tea meeting
will be held in tbo*Methodist church, Kin.
burn, on the evening of Wednesday, Dec.
21st, in aid of the Parsonage and Sab-
bath School funds, able addresses will be
given by Revs. W. McDonagh, of Clinton,
and J. Loothead, of Londeaboro, music will
be furnished by the Clinton Methodist
choir ; tea served at 6 o'clock, and a grand
time is expected.

CHURCH SUED. -On Saturday last a 11 bee"
was made to erect a shed in connection with
St. Peter's church here. Those present work -
ell hard, and at night nothing was to be done
but shingle it, put con doors and a little inside
work, The shed will be completed in a short
time and wilI add greatly to the convenience
of church goers, from a distance. They were
driven to Mr. Lovett's for dinper, which Mrs.
Lovett had kindly volunteered to give, pre.
viously.

A 7ery successful tea meeting, under the
auspioes ef the lioxis of Temperance, of this
place, was held in the temperance hall, on
the Sth inst. Considering the unfavorable
weather, the attendance was large. Very
much credit is due to the sisters of the divi-
. sion, and the lady friends of temperance, who
provided such an abundance of luxuries for
this occasion. Ample inetice having been
done to the good things provided, a mammoth
cake was exposed, and two lady candidates
appointed, the friends of whom worked with
much enthusiasm for their favorite, When
the poll closed the result showed that Miss
M. B. Gledhill wait victorious, with a hand-
some majority. All now repaired to the
church for the intellectual part of the pro-
�rammerf, The chair was occupied by Mr. P.
Ca.tclo W.P., who having briefly addressed
the audienee, introluced in order the follow.
