Mr. Jas. Weir has purchased the Mansion
House, Seaforth, paying therefor $7,000 cash,
Miss Annie Watson, of Seaforth, has boon

John E. Smith, a well-known business man
in Brussels and the surrounding country,
leaves for Brandon in a short time, where he

We regret to learn of the death of Mrs. Jas
Dickson, wife of the Registrar of Heron.
The deceased hail beeu prostrated fir over a
week by a combined attack of pleurisy and
inflammation of the lungs. She succumbed
shortly before four o'clock on Thursday last.
She was one of the earliest settlers in Huron.

On Monday, a young man panted Ellis, sen
of Mr. Robt. Ellie, of the 1.1th eon. of Went
Wawauoell, met with a Yery serious accident.
He was riding ort horseback along the 12th
sou. of Wawanosh, when the hors() suddenly
broke through a Culvert and'throw him, with
great force, head first, to the ground, inflict-
ing eevoral severe outs about the head and
face.
On Thursday evening the new water tank
belonging to the Gland Trunk Railway Co.,
Seaforth, buret with a Ioud,report• anddulug•
ed the track and adjoining buildings, sweek•
ing away a few outhouses. This tank was,
only built by the company two mouths ago
at a cost of 83,000, It is supposed that the
swelling of the.dry timber by the water was
the pause of the accident.
Another old and respe•ated resident of the
township of Grey has passed to his lriug home.
Mr. John Hislop died at' his residence, on
Wednesday of last week, leaving attained the
age of 84 years. Mr. Ilielop was a native' of
ltoxboroshire, Scotland, and came to this
country about 29 years ago, and settled in
the township of (Grey, about two miles north
of Walton, on the farm where lie continued
to reside until hie death."

of age) got a common pea iu his ear. Several
trials were made to got it out at the time,
but without effect, and as hechild suffered
