cluding balance on bend, $5249.47. The

make a good County ouncillor.

for many years a me ber of the. Coun-
cil. Of the four can idates hs is the one
nearest resident of W ngham. Mr. Currie
was a candidate two years ago and we
feel that he is entitled to the support of
the electors of the , ivision. A. E. Brad -
win is an old Wi gham boy and is a
brother chip in the newspaper business,
being editor of the lyth Standard. He
is a young man wit a great deal of push
and atnbition and w uld, without doubt,
make a good repres ntative. MM►tthew
Lockhart has been . representatibe for
the past four years. ' = any electors feel

of the council for some ' ears.

Morris Pionee Dead.
On Tuesday morning another of the
Morris pioneers passed • way in the per-
son of Robert Warwio =, in his 75th year.
The deceased was a na ive of Scotland,
and Dame to this coun y when a young
man, first settling at _•• i th's Falls. For
the past forty-three y.art; he has been a
resident of Morris. .hardy after com-
ing to this part he in : rried Miss Allen,
of Hullett. The lat Mr. Warwick was
of a quiet, reserve • manner, a great
reader, and was we 1 informed on the
public questions of the day. He was
universally esteems for his integrity
and nprighthess. I politics he was a
staunch supporter o the Liberal party,
and in religion a Pr sbyterian. For the
past twenty-five ye: ' s he has held the
position of school tr, tee in his section,
daring the past few ears of which time
he has been secret: y -treasurer. The
deceased leaves to monrn hie loss a
widow, four sons,— oho, V.S., Brussels,
Robert, George and Andrew, the latter
of whom has recent y been in Montana—
and three daughter:, Mrs Wm, Gulley
of Edmonton, Mr Chas Campbell of
Morris, and J• n n i e at home.
The deceased was a brother of Mrs
King sr, of Blueval :, Mr Thos Warwick
of Morris, and ano er brother resides
at Smith's Falls. The funeral takes
place from the fan y- residence lot 4,
con 2, this (Thursd y) afternoon to the
Bluevale cemetery.

On motion of 'Co ns. Millikin and
Thos. Bell, the Trees rer was author-
ized to take up the .cal improvement
debentures for 1904 . ut of the sinking
fund of the town.
On motion of C• ns. T. Bell and
Holmes, agrant of -100 was made to
supplement the ::`•aunt raised by the
Wingham branch a the National Sani-
tarium Association for the purpose of
endowing a cot in he Free Hospital for
Consumptives at t ravenhurst.
Mr, M. E. Zn brigg addressed the
council in referen assessment e to the e ae semens of
stock in his photraph gallery. The
assessment, whit . last year was $150,
was this year raised to $500, which he
considered altoget er too high. He had
tried to get an exp + nation froin the as-
sessor as to the rea on for the increase,
but Was unsucces-' 1. Conn. T. Bell
explained that the matter shonki have
been brought befo the Court of Revis-
ion, but the time f r that was now past,
and he thought th Council could not do
auyting in the ma ter. The other mem-
bers concurred in his view, and nothing
was done.
