All Township Councils •will hold their statutory meeting to -day- -The deal in connection with the transfer of the Vendome Hotel at Tees - water to Mr. W. F. Dubnage failed to inaterialize and Mr. Verson is still in possession. -We understand that Gunns, Limited have rented. the Kent block from Mr. A. Dulmage and will use it as an office and storage room until their own prem- ises are rebuilt. -The Wingham firemen have engag- ed H. Collector Groves informs us that the taxes are pretty well paid. -Chas Johnston, a former Wingham boy was last week sentenced by Magis- trate Bartlett, of Windsor, to three years in the Kingston penitentiary, on a charge of stealing a horse belonging to a livery- man of that town. -The Goderich Stan is making ex- tensive improvements in their printing plant. They are putting in a new two - revolution Hoe press for newspaper and job printing. The Star has onr beat wishes for continued prosperity. -Mr. S. S. Cooper, contractor for Wingham's new post office was seriously ill at his home in Clinton for some days. "Your Own Sam's" many friends in this section will be pleased to learn that he is able to be around again. -We have large stock of visiting cards and the latest styles of script. Printed cards are neater and cost very little more than the plain. Box of 50, with printing, only 75 cents, two boxes for $1. Leave your orders at the TIMES office. -The ratepayers of Seaforth will vote at the coming municipal elections on a by-law to loan the Canaria Furniture Manufacturers $20,000 without interest for twenty years. The Co. is to build a new factory and employ 100 workmen. -Oar news columns are rather crowd- ed this week owing to the extra holiday advertising. Our readers will find the advts very interesting reading and a careful perusal of them should save you money when doing your holiday shop- ping. -The Postmaster -General warns post- masters throughout the country to be careful to see that all parcels for Great Britain or any foreign country be accompanied by a Customs declaration as to the contents and value of the par- cel, and that the parcel be felly pre- paid. -The following gentlemen from Wingham attended the West Huron Liberal convention at Goderich on Mon- day :-Dr. P.
