We refer to the demise of Mr. Frederick Fisher, who had for several months been a sufferer from brain trouble. Almost from the time Mr. Fisher was taken down with the disease his case was considered a serious one and baffling the best medical skill, he passed away on Friday morning, Nov. 4th, at the age of 65 years and one month. The de- ceased was a native of, Usborne where he, ,,early all his life, followed the oc- cupation of farming and by skill and faithful application to duty he succeeded in accumulating considerable ot this world's goods. A few years ago he re- tired from the farm and took up his res- idence in Exeter; The Standard Loan Company of To- ronto, which recently absorbed the Aid Savings & Loan Company and the On • tario Loan & Investment 9ompany of Toronto, has taken in the Huron & Bruce. Loan & Investment Oompany of Goderich. The basis of the amalgama- tion is the allotment of the same amount of stook in the Standard Loan to the Huron & Bruce shareholders as were held by them in that company. The dividend on this stook is 5 per cent , be- ing 1 per cent more than was paid on the shares of the western company. The negotiations were carried on by Mr. W. S. Dinnick, Vice:President of the Stand- ard Loan Company, and W. Proudfoot, K. C., of Goderich, and Vice -President of the Huron Company. Lord Stratbr- cona is a director of the Huron & Bruce. The board of the old company will be- come directors of the Standard Loan, and the management of Goderich will be unchanged. Rev. M. B. Williams, a prominent Chicago clergyman, says he is not op- posed to young people flirting in church from behind hymn books. The news of the death of Archibald Sands, which was circulated on Sunday morning, Nov. 6th, was received with keen regret by his many friends in town and country. It was received also with some surprise, as it was known to com- paratively few that Mr. Sands was 111. He had been apparently in his usual health, but on Thursday was taken ill and succumbed on Sunday to en intestin- al trouble. Mr. Sands was born August 14, 1832, at Thornhill Perthshire, Sco -land. Continuing his way Westward, he arrived- in Ool- borne Sept. 5th, and was thus for neatly fifty gears a resident of the township.
