A considerable change. has taken place
in the Executive Officers of'this Bank con-
sequent ou the resignation of Mr J. B.
Renpy, general manager. Mr. Archibald
Campbell, late manager at Toronto, who
has had very considerable experience as
manager and inspector, has •been appiiint-
ed acting general inawirKer -It is-undet-
etood that some of the agencies of the Battik
will be closed without delay. '
A Montreal paper says.: it would ,appear
as if the new management at the Conseil -
dated batik was taking the bull by the horn
in earnest if the latest report be true. It
is said that the morning Mr: Campbell as
f %ted his_new.duties, he was waited upon;
by a 000ple of stock :brokers with the re•
quest that he would . accept their cheques
fur which there were no funds, and which
would he covered during the afternoon.
The request was refused'.'on the ground .i
that as the bank made nothing by broker's
trai saotione, there was no good reason why
he should run the 'risk of the'chequea be-
ing made good.' It was represented that
it•had been the bank's former custom to
accept the chequesof the ' brokers ill ad-
vance. but this didn't move the new ma-

a bad one and.was determined to shut down,
on it, even at running the riskof losin'
brokers' accounts.
