The flowers were also very pretty.
'The vestry meeting was held on
Monday evening.

He Hanged In June
Goderich, April 14.—Edward Jay!•
dime was to -day found guilty of the
murder of Lizzie Anderson in a lone-
ly spoil near the fairy grounds on
Sept'. 20th last, and was sentenced
by Chief Justice 1 alcnnbridga to be
hanged on the 16th of June.
The court was crowded when the
trial was reopened at 9.30 this mor-
ning, and almost immediately L. E.
Dances', the prisoner's counsel, began
his address to the jury. life declar-
ed that there was not a tittle of
evidence on which to base a convic-
tion, except the prisoner's confession
to Dr. Smith. There was, he con-
tended, no reason or motive for, the
commission of this act. Yet the in-
dictment charges "malice . afore-
thliought." If you find there is no
malice, you will be quite justified in
finding him gel;lty on. account of the
ineenity,-and to my mind that is the
proper verdict in this care," he said.
