Hensall seniors make donation to homemakers

The November meeting of the Three Links
Senior Citizens was held November 8 with
attendance of 23 members and two guests. A
motion was made to send a donation to the
Town and Country Homemakers.
Hensall will be responsible for the Euchre
in next year's Senior Summer Games. The
December meeting will be a supper catered
to by the United Church Ladies. Seniors will
return to the Hall afterwards for the
meeting.
Plans were made for the Euchre Party
November 22. A good turn -out took place
with nine tables in play and three observers.
Winners were ladies high Gertrie
Fleishauer, 2nd Annie Finkbeiner, Gent's
high Pat Venne, 2nd Jack Madge. Lone
Hands Nora Corriveau. A draw was made,
the winner being Jean Madge, George
Dowson, Alf Ross, Isabel Rogerson and Ger-
tie Moir. Lucky Cup winner was Pearl
McKnight.
The next card party will be held January
24, 1989.
SHUFFLEBOAD RESULTS
High scorer at Hensall Shuffleboard was
Bruce Watson with 355 followed by Dave
Kyle 327, Pearl McKnight 308, Alfred Ross
299, Bill Rogerson 279 and Henry Wilmink
257.
UNITED CHURCH
Hensall United Church was beautifully
decorated for the Advent Season on Sunday.
The service began with the lighting of the
first Advent Candle. Rev. Wright explained
the meaning of the Season to the children
and Jeff Reaburn read the minutes for
Missions.
The Choir sang "Winds through Olive
Trees", followed by Rev. Wright's sermon
"Take Heed and Watch". While the offering
was received Donna St. John and Debbie
Wood sang "Rejoice Greatly".
On December 18 at 7:30 pm the Senior
Choir will host a Christmas concert and
carol sing. Christmas Eve service will be
held on Saturday, December 24 at 7:30 pm.
The latest word on the Loation family be-
ing sponsored by the Huron Perth
Presbytery is that they may be in Canada by
the end of the year.
Next Sunday is White Gift Sunday.
LIBRARY NEWS
Jackie Blair of Hensall will be Acting
Branch Supervisor at Hensall Library from
now until the end of March. Please be pa-
tient with her as she learns the ropes. Story
hour at the Library is cancelled for
December 1 and will resume December 8.
SPORTS NEWS
Hensall Novice lost to Huron Park 3-1 in a
close game played here in Hensall on
Wednesday. Regan Neilands scored Hen -
sail's only goal, assisted by Jonathon
Campbell.
On Sunday the Novice travelled to
Goderich where thele fared much better with
a 13-1 victory over the home team. Al usual
Eric Groot and Jeff Rathwell shared goal
keeping duties. Brock Weiss scored seven
times for Hensall and Chris Jones came
through with a pair. Paul Cooper, Regan
Neilands, Mark Bell .and Ryan Munn each
scored a single.
Hensall Tykes overpowered Clinton 9-1
Saturday morning. Kevin Munn scored once
for Hensall while Jeff Campbell burned up
the ice for eight goals.
Hensall Atoms annihilated Blyth on Satur-
day 10-0 in Blyth. Another shut -out for
Goalie Lance Weiss. Danny Taylor scored
four of the Hensall goals. Chris Taylor and
Blair Moir each contributed a pair and Ryan
Kyle and Jason Campbell had one apiece.
TREE CEREMONY
Don't forget Hensall's third annual tree
lighting ceremony this Friday evening in
front off the Town Hall. Drop into the Village
office or call for hiiormation on Hensall's
Home Christmas Decorating contest. A
large number of homes are already decked
out in their Holiday Colors. Why not take a
drive around the community and see for
yourself?
FIGURE SKATING HAPPENINGS
The Hensall Figure Skating club is now in-
to its second month and enrolment is still
down. Anyone interested in joining please
contact Jayne Consitt at 262-2401 or Anita
Cooper at 283-5025.
The children are working hard and some
have earned badges already. They are:
BEGINNER BADGE - Becky Corbett,
Krista Dayman, Cassandra O'Brien, Erin
Campbell, and Megan Preszcator.
ELEMENTARY BADGE - Melissa Van Bell
and Lucas Bruxer.
The badges will be handed out on the last
Tuesday of each month. The date set for the
Winter Carnival is February 18/89. Anyone
interested in ordering cheese should contact
any child involved in the figure skating pro-
gram. There are gift boxes available for
Christmas. Orders to be in by November 29
and delivery will be December 13. During
the Christmas holidays the club will be
holding a Skate-a-thon on December 28 from
10 atn till noon. Please help support this
vital young group in the Community.

vincial grant for a water works project.
