This was a Fly Fisherman's experience of
salmon fishing and was most interesting to
the men who also related some of their
fishing experiences. In the afternoon it was
euchre with volunteers and winners were

Smale, consolation prizes, Edith Salo and
Keith Herman. Most lone hands, Margaret
Smale.
Friday morning was exercises in the day
room and in the afternoon Rod Friesen of
Hensall led a sing song, accompanying
himself on the guitar, to celebrate the
"Christmas Season" is in the air and
strains of Christmas carols and the ever
popular "White Christmas" are to be heard
most everywhere. Seaforth Manor rooms
and halls are also gaily decorated.
On Monday residents celebrated the ad-
vent season when they held their first ad-
vent service. Lighting the first candle for
advent was Edith Jessome. Readers were
Jenny Hildebrand and Frank and Margaret
Swale while Patrick Ryan concluded with
prayer. In the afternoon a lively singsong of
carols and familiar pieces were sung in the
activity room with Carol Carter at the
piano.
Last Tuesday morning Grade 6 students
from Seaforth Public School assisted with
wheelchair bowling and in the afternoon

VIM - Frank and Teresa Yim (nee Malkus)
are happy to announce the birth of their son,
Adam Ja Ming, weighing 7 lbs., 3 ozs. on Fri-
day, November 18, 1988 at Guelph General
Hospital. Proud grandparents are Mr. and
Mrs. Wah Yim of Windsor and Dr. and Mrs.
Edmund Malkus of Seaforth.
NESBITI' - Brian and Sharon are thrilled to
announce the arrival of their third child,
Laura Charlotte, born November 25, 1988 at
Victoria Hospital, Renfrew, and weighing in
at 9 lbs. even. She was a full 22 inches long.
Kathy and Mark are very excited about
their new sister. Proud grandparents are
Harvey and Mabel Nesbitt of Stratford and
John and Carolyn Thompson of Seaforth.
Great grandparents are George Campbell of
Seaforth and Edna Hunter of Goderich.
EDWARDS - It's a girl. Brian and Jane (nee
Ross) proudly announce the safe arrival of
their first child, Ashley Joy, weighing 9lbs.,
8 ozs. Tuesday, November 22, 1988 at Met
Hospital in Windsor. Proud grandparents
are Alf and Joy Ross of Seaforth and
Dominic and Sandy (Edwards) Bevacqua of

CASE - Jim and Andrea of Calgary, are
pleased to announce the birth of their son
Brendon on November 9, 1988, weighing 71/2
lbs. A first grandchild for Jack Case of
Egmondville.
VAN RAAY - Jessica and Dean would like to
introduce their new brother Philip Thomas,
born November 10, 1988 at South Huron
Hospital in Exeter, and weighing 8 lbs., 4
ozs. Proud parents are Martin and Teresa.
Official spoiling privileges go to grand-
parents, Francis and Marie Hicknell of
Seaforth and Case and Anny Van Raay of
Dashwood. Great grandparents are Matilda
Hicknell and Joseph Manley.
Saturday Denis Arney attended the an-
nual Christmas party' for the blind, held at
the Seaforh Legion Hall. Mary Finlayson ac-
companied Denis and the musical program
which followed the dinner was excellent.

Residents have been busy preparing
crafts for their bazaar tables which will be
set up at the Hobby Delight Craft Sale to be
held at 42 Wilson Street, Seaforth on Satur-
day, December 3 from 9 to 5 p.m. They hope;
many of their former customers will again
patronize their efforts.
Maplewood enjoys Open House
Residents of Maplewood Manor had a full
week as they took part in a busy schedule.
The highlight of the events was the Open
House which was held Sunday afternoon.
On Monday, residents were eager to get to
the polls to cast their vote in the federal
election. Politics has been popular topic of
discussion among residents the past few
weeks. Thanks to the volunteer drivers for
taking residents to and from Maplewood.
Tuesday morning the dining room was the
setting for the weekly exercise session.
Grace Titford led the group through a
routine which left everyone feeling in great
shape. In the afternoon, cards were in play
as residents gathered together for euchre.
Nurses from the health unit came for foot
care clinic on Wednesday afternoon.
Residents as well as others of the communi-
ty took full advantage of this service and
thank them for their visit.
Wednesday evening a larger than usual
group of residents were busy playing Lions
TV Bingo. Gertie Taylor's win last week in-
fluenced others to play. Luck was not in
their favor this week, but they are anxious
to try again. Thank you to Marj Maloney
and Anne Downey for their help with bingo.
Friday afternoon residents once again got
together for bingo with Ruth Bock in charge.
Winners were Ethel Coleman, Evelyn
Willis, Ed Johns and Anna Sherrill won two.
On Sunday, Maplewood was decorated
with the colors and lights of the Christmas'
Season. In the downstairs living room Santa
Claus was the "reception committee" for:
the residents and staff and welcomed
everyone to Maplewood's Christmas open-
house. Thank you to the community for com-
ing to the open house and helping residents
start the Christmas festivities off in such a'
pleasant way.
The crafts made by residents and staff
during the year were displayed and sold by
Agnes Hunter, Cheryl Wilkinson and Ruth
Bock. Thank ou ladies. There are many
people who helped and we appreciated it
very much. For some this was their third
year for helping at the open house. Thank
you to Anne Downey, Marj Maloney, Karen
Dillon, Katie Craig and Julie Medd who
served refreshments in the dining room.
Thank you to the local craft persons Isabel
MacDonald and Karen Whitmore for bring-
ing their crafts. The Christmas musical
entertainment was once again delightful,
thanks to Lisa Strong, Karen Dillon, Cheryl
Anne Storey, Edith Dunlop and the Huron
Strings school of violinists under the direc-
tion of Elayne Ras. The winner of the
gingerbread house will be announced on
December 4.
