Seaforth area 4-H members win bigat aw r county s night
BARBARA FOTHERINGHAM of RR 4 Seaforth won the Huron Soil and Crop Improve-
ment Association Award for being the top member in the county 4-H. Field Crop Club.

DOUG HUGILL of RR 2 Seaforth won the Vincent Farm Equipment trophy as the top
member in the Huron 4-H Agricultural Machinery Club, and received his award from
Marlen Vincent.

STEVE FRITZ of RR 2 Brussels won the Warden's Novice Award donated by Robert
Bell, Warden for 1988, for having the highest standing on the Basis of Awards in Huron
County Bill Bennett, Reeve of Seaforth, made the presentation on behalf of the
warden.
The annual 441 county awards night was
in Seaforth this year, and took place at the
Seaforth District High School on Friday
evening. Many Seaforth, and Seaforth area
youths took home trophies and other prizes
from their various sponsors.
Steve Bean of Brucefield was among thp
big winners at the awards night. He took
home the Petri Canada 4-H Youth Leader-
ship Award, which is a 61,000 scholarship
awarded to only six members across
Canada. He also got the C.S. McNaughton
Memorial Trophy which is awarded each
year to the 4-H member in. Huron County
receiving the highest number of points on
the basis of awards for 441 club work for
1988. He had 957 points out of 1,000. The
Anstett Jewellers Award was another of
Steve's prizes, and he won it for being the
4-11 beef club member with the highest stan-
ding in the county.
Steve Fritz of RR 2 Brussels won the
Warden's Nocive Award donated by Robert
Bell, Warden for 1988, for having the highest
standing on the Basis of Awards in Huron
County, Steve also won the Canadian Im-
, penal Bank of Commerce Award donated
by the Seaforth branch to the 4-11 swine club
member exhibiting the champion 4-H gilt at
the Seaforth Fall Fair, and the Bank of Mon-
treal Award for the champion 4-11 swine
showman at the Seaforth Fall Fair.
Barbara Fotheringham of RR 4 Seaforth
won the Huron Soil and Crop Improvement
Association Award for being the top
member in the county 4-H Field Crop Club,
as well as the Hallrice Farms Trophy
donated by Hallrice Farms of Blyth to the
441 member with the grand champion 4-H
gate sign in the county Gate Sign
competition.
Jonathan Hugill of RR -2 Seaforth was
given the Neil McGavin Award for being the
4-11 member with the highest score in the
Huron County 4H Plowman's Club. He had
a score of 868 points out of 1,000. Paul Dodds,
of RR 1 Seaforth had a score of 885, but
previous winners are ineligible.
The W.G. Thompson and Sons Limited
Trophy was given to the Huron 4-H Sheep
Club for their champion 411 grain exhibit at
the Seaforth Fall Fair.
Doug Hugill of RR 2 Seaforth won the Vin-
cent Farm Equipment trophy as the top
member in the Huron 41-1 Agricultural
Machinery Club.
The Topnotch Feeds Limited Award for
the champion 4-11 steer at the Seaforth Fall
Fair was won by Vanessa Alton of RR 7
Lucknow.
The A.Y. McLean Memorial Trophy was
donated in memory of Mr. McLean of
Seaforth to the Champion 4-11 Dairy
Showman at the Seaforth Fall Fair who was
Sharon Ramsey of RR 3 Blyth.
The Russell T. Bolton Memorial Trophy
was earned by the Kippfield Calf Club in
memory of Russell Bolton of Seat ortil., for
their champion corn exhibit at the Seaforth
Fall Fair.
Barbara Glanville of RR 4 Walton and
Connie McClure of RR 1 Seaforth were co -
winners of the Farm Safety Association
Award as the most deserving members of
the Farm Safety Club.
The Central Huron 419 Swine Club won the
Cook's Division of Gerbo Corporation
Trophy for the champion 419 exhibit of
white beans at the Seaforth Fall Fair.
Jennifer Procter of RR 5 Brussels won the
Bruce McCall Trophy as the 4-11 member
with the champion 4-H market hog at the
Seaforth Fall Fair.
Greg Fritz of RR 2 Brussels was this
year's winner of the National Trust Award
for being the Champion 4H swine showman
at the Seaforth Fall Fair.
A Poultry Club Leaders' Award was given
to Chrystal Whyte of RR 2 Seaforth for the
highest commercial poultry project score.
The Stan Jackson Award for the grand
champion steer went to Vanessa Alton of RR
7 Lucknow, and Vanessa recieved a wrist
watch and $150,000. The award for the grand
champion heifer went to Tim Hoffman of
RR 3 Dashwood who recieved the same
prize as above. And Steven Bean took the
award for the Beef club member with the
highest total points and will receive $200.

to Vanessa Alton of RR 7 Lucknow, and Vanessa recieved a wrist
watch and $150,000. The award for the grand champion heifer
went to Tim Hoffman of RR 3 Dashwood who recieved the same
prize as above. And Steven Bean took the award for the Beef club
member with the highest total points and will receive $200. Bevan
Shapton, director of the 411 leaders' association, presented the
awards.
