BLUE JAYS HONOR PLAYERS - The Toronto Blue Jays and Holi-
day Inns honored 50 young ball players, representing amateur
baseball leagues throughout Ontario, and their parents, at Exhibi-
tion Stadium during the 1988 season windup on October 1-2. The
kids were Grand Prize winners in the first annual Blue Jay spon-
sored, Ontario Baseball Association "High 5" fundraising cam-
paign. Over 25,000 palyers from 124 leagues participated to help

Jacks had scored five more goals in the
third period -four of them on power plays.
Seaforth's only accomplishment in the third
period was a short handed goal by Ray Mur-
ray which got him a hat trick. Travis Lyn-
don assisted on the goal.
The final score was 13-5 for Wellesley.
The referee called 33 minor penalties, six
Game Misconducts, and two Gross Miscon-
ducts on the Centenaires through the game,
while giving Wellesley 19 minor penalties.
There were no fights in the game. Wellesley
scored nine of its 13 goals on power plays.
"I know I made a mistake by talking
myself out of the game," says Mr. Nesbitt.
But he also thinks he was the victim of a
poor referee. He estimates his two Gross
Misconducts will result in six or eight games
of suspensions, and he will be appealing the
penalties.
Cam Doig will be helping out with the
coaching of the team, and taking Mr.
Nesbitt's place behind the bench during

through the sale of "High 5" wafer bars. Blue Jay catcher Ernie
Whitt and right -fielder Jesse Barfield presented a cheque for over
$311,000 to the minor leaguers, sumbolic of funds raised in the
first few months of the 1988 campaign. Jeff Holman, right, can be

games. Mr. Doig was with the Centenaires
on Sunday afternoon when they took on
Brussels.
The Brussels Bulls looked like they were
going to walk away with an easy win against
the Cents Sunday. They got two power play
goals early in the game to take the lead.
Wayne Regele scored unassisted as he jam-
med the puck through the goaltender's pad
to keep Seaforth in the game. And with 1:02 '
left in the period Brussels scored short
handed to make the score 3-1.
In the second period the Centenaires
couldn't generate offence, and got only five
shots and no goals, but their defence was
working and the Bulls converted only one of
12 shots.
The Bulls scored twice again in the first
half of the third period. The score was 6-1
and "blowout" was in the air. (Or was that
just diesel fumes from the relic they use to
clean the ice at the Brussels arena?) But
with 11:12 in the game Terry Gray put a

backhand upstairs to move Seaforth a little
closer. At 8:50 Jason McNichol scored on a
pass from Ray Murray, and with 5:25 left to
play Travis Lyndon let go a big slapshot
from the point that snuck past Bulls
goaltender John Steffler's bad side. Ray
Murray and Ron Pryce assisted.
The Bulls held on and with just over a
minute remaining the Cents pulled their net -
minder Trevor Fortune in favor of an extra
attacker. Seaforth had most the play in
Brussels end, until with 33 seconds remain-
ing a Bull banked the puck off the boards at
the blue line and into the empty Seaforth
net.
The final score was 7-4 for Brussels.
Trevor Fortune made 33 saves for Seaforth,
and Sterner 25 for Brussels.
