On Monday, the activities for the week at
the Seaforth Manor started off with exer-
cises in the Day Room. Everyone seems to
enjoy the workout put before them. In the
afternoon some games of euchre were set up
and several ladies worked on some craft
preparations for pillows.
On Tuesday morning residents welcomed
several Grade 6 student volunteers from
Seaforth Public School to assist with
wheelchair bowling. Residents look forward
to meeting the new Grade 6 students. The
first weeks of the new season bring different
students. The movie for the week, Super

Coop students
Maplewood Manor welcomes two students
• from the Seaforth District High School, co-
op program. Lori Willems, a Grade 12 stu-
dent has been at Maplewood each morning
for a month now, to help with resident care.
Her future plans may include a nursing
career, and with her experience at
Maplewood it gives her some insight into the
profession. John Murray, another co-op stu-
dent, is a familiar face with all the
residents. He was with them last year and
they are pleased he is with them again.
Everytafternoon he will be assisting with ac-
tivities. The residents all agree it is par-
ticularly pleasant having the students here.
A special thank you to another Seaforth
high school student, Anne Robinson. For
special holidays she volunteers her time to
decorate the office window with painted
scenes. This Thanksgiving she delighted
everyone with a picture of a little girl pick-
ing apples.
Maplewood residents enjoyed all the usual
activities this week. Now with the cooler
weather, the indoor activities are good for
social get-togethers as well.
The competition was great on Tuesday
afternoon when residents gathered in the
dining room to play euchre. It was decided
Mary Lupul was the lucky lady with so
many good hands for euchre.
Welcome back to Pastor Sadler. Wednes-
congregation join them in the communion
service.
On Thursday morning residents gathered
in the Day Room for Fun and Fitness. After
exercising their bodies they exercised their
minds with some thought provoking word
games and quizzes. That afternoon the
ladies got together to chat and reminisce
about happenings of earlier years.
Everyone was also pleased to a have a
"precious little bundle" Tyler George
James pay a surprise visit with his mother
Ruth HIldebrand, manor administrator.
The highlight of Friday morning was the
making of a Thanksgiving Display.
Residents cleaned and polished fruit.
Special thanks to Jenny Hildebrand and
Margaret Smale for arranging the display
in the front hall.
Bingo winners in the afternoon were

support Homemakers.
Women •and men who work as
homemakers, help the elderly, handicapped
and families during a medical crisis or
chronic illness. The support is priceless, as
many clients can testify, because the skilled
Homemaker must tend to practical needs
plus any emotional turmoil.
Homemaking is a growing industry. The
increasing elderly population and the harsh
realities of communicable diseases and
alzheimers, demands greater skill and
training in the homemaking field and
related professions.
Homemaker/Home Support Week is not
isolated to Ontario. The Week is declared
nationally which therefore emphasizes the.
broad importance of homemaking in
Canada. Homemaking is often regarded as
domestic and unskilled labour. An equally
important task is to educate people that this
is a myth. Homemakers are skilled and
should receive the attention, rewards and
respect they deserve. Their job requires
them to be sensitive to clients' needs,
priorities and values.
Visiting Homemaker's Week is not just any
other week. It's a time to reflect on what the
quality of homemaking service means to all
of us.
