Jewellery store sounds alarm
Crime Stoppers and the Exeter Police
Force are seeking your help in the solving
of this theft.
At approximately 1 p.m. on July 11, 1988,
a man entered the Campbell jewellery
store in Exeter, asking to see some
solitaire engagement rings. The store
clerk took a tray of rings out and placed
them on the counter. The suspect viewed
the rings and when he was asked if he had
made his decision he said he had and then
said, "I'11 take them all." With that he
picked up the entire tray and left the store.
This is a composite drawing of the
suspect. He is described as six feet tall, in
his early to mid 20s, with dark colored hair
with a short ponytail at the back, a fine,
light colored beard and a slender build.
If you know who this man is or have any
information about this theft or any other
crime call Crime Stoppers of Huron Coun-
ty toll free at 1-800-285-1777 or locally at
482.3821. You will never have to identify
yourself or testify in court. If your call
leads to an arrest you could earn a cash
reward of up to $1,000. Remember crime
doesn't pay, but Crime Stoppers does.
St. Columban soccer
• from page 1
Mike Smale led the way by scoring 2 goals
while Pat Cook and Jeff Flanagan scored
singles. The Mosq. II's second game put
them into the finals with a close 1-0 win over
Bryanston. Jeff Flanagan scored the lone
goal. The Championship final put the Mosq.
II's against Exeter.
During the regular season these two
teams met three times with St. Columban
Mosq. II's taking two games. All these
games were decided by one goal so this
game also had the fans buzzing.
Well, this game also ended tied after
regulation time - 1-1 with Mike Smale scor-
ing for St. Columban. So, for the second time
in the tournament a St. Columban team
went into overtime against Exeter. It was
an exciting overtime with both teams play-
ing hard and in the final minutes of the extra
half Joe Murray scored to give St. Colum -
ban Mosq. II's the "A" playoff
championship.
Congratulations to Mosq. II coach Albert
Boven and to Mosq. I coach Bill Vosper for
an exciting year for Mosquito soccer in St.
Columban.
PEE WEES
Coaches Ken Coyne and Brian Melady Sr.
and the St. Columban Peewees journeyed to
Exeter on Saturday, Sept. 17 to compete in
the Lacan and District Soccer League
Peewee playoff championship.
Playing some of their best soccer of the
year, the peewees downed IIderton 3-1 in
their first game of the tournament. Mike
Cronin scored his first, his second and his
third goal of season in leading the peewees
to the win. This game also saW halfback
Shawn Vosper go down with an injury after
a collision with the llderton goalie, leaving
the Peewees with 11 players for the rest of
the tournament.
The peewees next opponent was Grand
Bend and while the peewees played tough
against the league leaders a penalty shot
and a late goal eliminated the peewees 2-0.
Congratulations to Ken Coyne and Brian
Melady in giving these 13 and 14 -year-old
players a satisying year of soccer.

Van Bakel, Shawn Vosper, Steve Hicknell,

Somepeople am saying
that oil heat is old-fashioned...
Maybe. Oil dealers do give you good old-fashioned "I'll be right over'
service. They're not like the huge gas or electric utilities. I feel like .
my oil dealer knows me. And oil heat equipment is more efficient, more
economical, clean, safe.
If that makes oil heat old-fashioned, Then I guess I'm just an
old-fashioned kinds guy.
