Cromarty WMS hears of trip to Russia

At the September meeting of the Marian
Ritchie Women's Missionary Society Jean
Hoffineyer of Mitchell showed slides of
Russia and told of the experiences she had
as part ofa farm group who toured there
three oror years ago. Mrs. Iloffrneyer
visited both the government and collective
farms as' well as sightseeing in several
Russian cities.
Lillian Dnuelas presided and opened
with a reading, Thongl}t for the Day.
Grace Kerslake was in.charge of the devo-
tions, using Matthey 12; 33-37 for
scripture.
Following the worshi ' service, Grace
Kerslake read a short ddress and Mary
Elliott presented Ruth Laing with a Cer-
tificate of Honorary Membership in the
Women's Missionary Society.
For her topic, Jean Carey read a true
story of how a wrong number led to a
telephone friend for a lonely old man. It
showed how important the modern
Telecare programme is to people who need
to tally fn n friend Ctrahfnrd Te1eeare is
currently looking for volunteers to help in
this work.
The roll call, Fruit, was answered by 13
members. Hazel Harburn presided for the
business and .the secretary's and
treasurer's reports were given by Edna
Stoneman and Mary Elliott respectively.
It was decided to investigate the cost of
having another reprint of the Marian Rit-
chie Cookbook made, also church hasti-
notes, and a committee of Doris Miller and
Ruth Laing was named to get prices.
For the entertainment number, Peggy
Kerslake read a story, The Hobo Tea.

Templehaven Adventure Molly placed
first in the Intermediate class and was
reserve Junior champion at the Perth Coun-
ty Holstein Show in Stratford on September
Barb McCoughey and Marie Chessell, 9. The following week Molly placed second
participated in the horse show at the in the Intermediate yearling class at the
Western Fair in London on the weekend. Western Ontario Championship show in
Marie placed second in horsemanship and Stratford.
Barb placed fourth in western riding and Kirk Mahon was an overnight visitor with
sixth in reining. Cain Templeman on the weekend.
Doris Miller visited on Monday with her Darlene and Sean Ellison, Goderich and
sister, Jean Mayer of Exeter. Barb Templeman and Scott Bouikowsky of
Joanne, Mathew and Kelly Donovan, Oakville, visited on the weekend with the J.

Cemetery Sunday follows service

Cemetery Sunday was held at the St. Col-
umban cemetery following mass on Sunday,
September 18 with a large crowd of relatives
of the deceased from Seaforth, Dublin and
St. Columban attending.
Father J. Hardy led the prayer service
with the Stations of the Cross. Fourteen
children held a wooden cross representing
the Passion and Death of Christ on the
Cross.
Following the prayers, coffee, juice and
donuts were served by the Catholic
Women's League .

The September meeting of the St. Colum -
ban Catholic Women's League was held on
Tuesday, September 13 in the parish kitchen
with seventeen members and Sister Rita
Coyne present.

letter from the Stratford District Right to
Life about the Life bus trip rally to Ottawa
on September 16. A donation will be sent to
the Right to Life to help defray the costs.
A letter was read from the adopted family
in India and also from Save a Family for the
support of the C.W.L. gives to the two
adopted families in India.
The Stratford Deanery meeting will be
held on October 19 in Blyth. The St. Colum -
ban Parish Harvest Dance will be held on
November 12 in the Brodhagen hall. The
meeting closed with prayer.
4-H NEWS
McKillop No. 4, 4-H Club is going to have
its first meeting on September 28 at 7 p.m. at
the home of Cora de Vries. The fall club is
called "Much Ado About Meats."

Seaforth's contestants for Fall Fair Queen.
