ALL WORTH IT - After playing six games, OASA Finalists Kelly Van Bakel, Dan Blake ,
and Chris Van Bakel (back) and Paul Dolmage and Darren Brown (front) proudly hgld-.`
the pennant that depicts their team's second place finish in the All Ontario Pee Wee Q,\(
championship tournament held on Labor Day weekend. Not many baseball players get
the opportunity to play for a provincial title and these fellows savor the moment. Subl

Locals in All Ontario ball
Under rainy conditions, local ball
players Chris and ' Kelly Van Bakel of
Brodhagen, Darren Brown of Seaforth,
Paul Dohnage of Winthrop and Dan Blake
of Walton, teamed up with the Wroxeter
Pee Wee team to try for the All Ontario
Pee Wee D Championship, held September
3 and 4 in Wroxeter.
The Wroxeter team won its first game
9-8 against Tara, then fell to Lucknow by
an 11-3 score. Regaining its strength it
defeated St. Clements 6-4 in game three,
then put out Lieury 9-8 to advance to the
semi-finals. In that round Wroxeter came
up .again against Lucknow, but this time
retired them 9-7 from the tournament. The
final game against Tamworth had two rain
delays, and when finally played resulted in
Tamworth taking the win, and the cham-
pionship, by a 10-8 score.
"We're proud of our local boys - it takes
a lot of endurance to play nine hours
straight in the rain. They never lost their
enthusiasm, sportsmanship, 0-,r strength in
the gruelling battle for the cha'npionship,"
commented one fan.
For the effort the Wroxeter team took
home a Finalist pennant, and 'each team
member received a Finalist 0 • A crest.
