On Monday ,afternoon, everyone enjoyed working out, while listening to some of theft' favorite selections at Fun and Fitness. It was also a good chance to catchup oh the latest news by reading through the daily paper together. On Tuesday morning not only did residents exercise their bodies at Fun and Fitness but their, minds as well. Everyone finds it lots of fun and an interesting pastime to work at word scrambles and quizzes. It is exciting as residents start prepatation for the November 16. Christmas Bazaar. On Thursday afternoon Rest Hpme Residents' Operations Group got together for their monthly meeting to discuss any concerns that they might have. That same Smith family holds annual reunion On Saturday, August 13 close to 60 descen- dants of Everett and Irene Smith gathered at the home of Harold and Mary Smith for a social time and pot -luck supper. Guests attended from Bracebridge, Hunt- sville, Kingston, Mississauga, Stratford, Edmonton, Seaforth and Egmondville. The guests included all 19 great grandchildren of Irene Smith with Terrah Amend (daughter of Gary and Marion) being the youngest guest at two ,...pare ,,f oao Murray Smith from Edmonton travelled the greatest distance to attend the reunion. A great time was had by all as they visited, played games and exchanged news. In the evening, the weekly movie feature was "The Incredible Shrinking Woman". Everyone seemed to really, enjoy the fresh popcorn that several residents had made before hand. On Friday morning, residents had a good workout at Fun and Fitness. On the agenda for the afternoon was Baking Club. Everyone didn't seem to mind the extra calories when they sampledthe freshly made product, Chocolate Bars. Coming events are Thursday, August 25, at 7 p.m. the monthly Birthday Party with Kim Guettner and friends. Friday, August 26 at 2 p.m. is International Day featuring Switzerland. MABEL ELIZABETH MCCLYMONT Mabel Elizabeth McClymont, of Huron - view and formerly of Clinton and Stanley Township, died in Huronview on August 20. She was 88 years old. Mrs. McClymont was born on June 18, 1900 in Stanley Township to the late George and Elizabeth (Turner) Coleman. She is the wife of Fred McClymont. Following their marriage, the Mc- Clymonts farmed in Stanley Township on. the farm where their son, Ivan, now resides. The McClymonts were well known to the area as they had McClymont Orchards, supplying apples to the local people as well as the surrounding area grocery stores. In 1972, the McClymonts moved off the farm and into Clinton, where they lived un- til moving to Huronview, Mrs. McClymont in 1981 and Mr. McClymont in 1987. Mrs. McClymont was a homemaker as well as a member of Wesley -Willis United Church, Clinton, and a former member of the Varna United Church. She was also a life member of the Varna United Church UCW and taught Sunday School in Varna United church. Mrs. McClymont is survived by her hus- band, three daughters: Mary and her hus- band Donald Barker of RR 2 King City; Margaret Robinson of Scarborough; Joan and her husband Nick Whyte of RR 2 Seaforth; and two sons: Ivan and his wife Margaret of RR 1 Varna and Robert and his wife Gail of Guelph. Also surviving are two sisters, Mrs. Ross (Grace) Chapman of Kippen and Mrs. Robert (Gladys) Doig of Seaforth as well OBITUARIES as one sister-in-law, Mrs. Harry (Fern) Baker of Bayfield and 12 grandchildren. Mrs. McClymont was predeceased by one sister, Mrs. Elgin (Elsie) McKinley, and by one brother, Anson Coleman. Mrs. McClymont rested at Ball and Falconer Funeral Home, Clinton, where the funeral service was held on August 22 with Rev. Sam Parker of Varna United Church officiating. Flower bearers were granddaughters Ruth Barker, Shannon McClymont, Carol Robinson, Kathlene Robinson, Lorrie Robinson and Crystal Whyte. Pallbearers were grandsons Glen and Lorne Barker, Michael McClymont, David and Murray Whyte and nephew Anson McKinley. Interment in Bayfield Cemetery. EMMA JANE BIRD Emma Jane Bird of Morris Township, died Tuesday, August 161, 988 at the Seaforth Community Hospital. She was 78. A daughter of the late James Mann and Jean Tudor she is survived by two daughters, Dorothy (Mrs. Ronald Gordon) and Barbara -Jean (Mrs. Don Ives), both of Morris Township. Also surviving are six grandchildren, four great grandchildren, three nieces and two nephews. Mrs. Bird was predeceased by her hus- band Robert Bird in September 1975, and by two sisters, Josephine Macks (1975) and. Mary Hodges -Barr (1983). A funeral was held at the Brussels Chapel of the M.L. Watts Funeral Home on August 19 with the Reverend Brenda Clarke of- ficiating. Interment was in Brussels Cemetery. Pallbearers were Elliott Somers, Bert Elliott, Brian Oldridge, Hugh Ives, Stuart Stevenson and John Saantiens. Flower bearers were Krista Bird, Donna Gordon and Donald Taradis. As expressions of sympathy donations may be made to the Diabetic Association. WILBERT GODKIN Wilbert Alvin Godkin, formerly of McKillop Township and Seaforth, died Fri- day, August 19, 1988 at Clinton Public Hospital. He was 78. Born in McKillop Township on December 24, 1909, he was a son of the late Albert Godkin and the former Matilda Johnston. Surviving are three sisters, Mary Grigg of Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan, Hester Haines of Huntsville and Eliza Cumming of Fergus. Mr. Godkin was predeceased by two sisters, Delia Milligan and Nora Litt, and three brothers, Edmund, Brenton and James. A funeral service was held Monday at the Whitney-Ribey Funeral Home, Seaforth and burial was in Maitlandbank cemetery. Pallbearers were Lloyd Beuermann, Mur- ray Dennis, Ken Godkin, Bryan Godkin, Ron Godkin and Bob Houghton. Flower bearers were Lisa Beuermann, Sharon Godkin and Allison Sinclair.
