Local soccer teams meet in
PEE WEES
On Tuesday, August 16, the St. Columban
Pee Wees hosted Lucan and lost by the score
of 2-1. The Pee Wee team just couldn't get
anything going in this game as they were
beaten to the ball all game by the hustling
Lucan team. Mosquito age player Wayne
Schoonerwoerd scored for St. Columban.
ATOMS
The St. Columban Atoms took a 4-2 lead in-
to the second half and barely hung on as the
Exeter II team battled back to tie the game
4-4 on August 15 in Exeter. Chris Marion and
Scott Wood each scored two goals while Pat
Gridzak and Greg Visser assisted. The
Atoms season's record is 9 wins - 1 loss - 2
ties with two games left to play.
MOSQUITO
The two St. Columban Mosquito teams
played each other on Wednesday, August 17.
The game was close until the last 15 minutes
when the Mosquito II team scored five
times, winning the game 5-1. Mike Smale.
and Wayne Schoonerwoerd each scored
twice for the Mosq IIs with Jamie Stapleton
scoring once. Jason Murray had the lone
Mosquito I goal.
• MOSQUITO TOURNAMENT •
Both St. Columban teams saw action Fri-
day, August 19 With the St. Columban Mos-
quito I team facing Goderich at 'hi- Dublin
field. It took over half the game for St. Col-
umban to get going on the smaller field, but
they finally did - winning 4-1. Jason Murray
scored two goals for St. Columban with Col-
in Devereaux and Jeremy Trubner scoring
singles. Lawrence Flanagan made some ex-
cellent saves playing goal in this game.
At the St. Columban field Friday night,
the St. Columban Mosquito II team played
St. Paul's and won 5-0. Mike Smale fired two
goals with Wayne Schoonerwoerd, Pat Cook
and Boyd Devereaux each scoring once.
Ryan Vandervliet registered the shut -out.
In their second game of the tournament,
the St. Columban Mosquito I's took on Em-
bro and won 5-1. Mike Watt scored twice
with Jeremy Trubner, Colin Devereaux and
Justin Rodney scoring one each. This win
put the St. Columban Mosquito I's into the
A" Division finals.
The St. Columban Mosquito II's second
game was a close contest as they beat Ex-
eter 1-0. Boyd ]Devereaux scored the lone St.
Murray and Queens leading
Kent Murray and the Queens lead the play
offs in ladies softball.
In last week's outing Kent Murray
defeated Ken Smith 13-12 and the Queens
defeated McNichol 27-7.
For Kent Murray home runs were hit by
Judy Mason and Lisa Preszcator. Joanne
Aubin, Ann Bosman and Judy Mason added
triples while Marilyn Denhaan and Connie

Leading the Queens at the plate were
Diane McGrath with a homerun and a triple,
and Deb Murray with twb triples and a dou-
ble. Hessie Kipfer also hit a home run and
Joanne Holland and Hilda Young added
doubles.
Playoffs continue on Tuesday evenings at

Library's 12th Annual TEDDY BEARS PIG
MC on Tuesday, August 30 at 2 p.m., ages 3
to 5 years welcome. Please pre -register at
the Library as registration is limited. Ad-
mission is .50e per person and bring along
your favourite teddy bear.
JOINT REGISTRATION for fall and
winter programs will be held on Tuesday,
September 13 from 7 to 9 p.m. and Wednes-
day, September 14 from 7 to 9 p.m. at the
Seaforth and District Community Centres.

Figure Skating, Minor Broomball, Boy
Scouts, Curling Club and Recreation

G Don't miss this year's TERRY FOX RUN,
C to be held on Sunday, September 18 from 8
E a.m. to 12 noon. The run will start from the
Van Egmond House. Last year Seaforth
recorded an all time high in money raised
and the number that walked. Let's see if we
can beat that number this year.
All proceeds for the run, walk, jog, ride,
r wheel a-thon will be going towards Cancer
research. You can pick up a pledge sheet
from the Town Hall, T.D. Bank, Province of
Ontario Bank and the Recreation Office.
The Seaforth MINOR BALL ASSOCIA-
TION would like to invite all ball players
and parents to their potluck dinner on
Wednesday, September 14 starting at 7 p.m.
at the Seaforth and District Community
Centres.
All Seaforth SENIOR GAMES PAR-
TICIPANTS are invited to attend the annual
potluck dinner to be held on Monday,
September 19, starting at 6 p.m., also at the
Seaforth and District Community Centres.
FITNESS IS FUN, the exercise program
for all ages where you are encouraged to
"work at your own pace" will be held at the
Seaforth and District Community Centres.
Tuesday and Thursday mornings from 8:30
to 9:30 a.m., starting September 13. Special
emphasis will be place on stretching, low-
level aerobics and care for the back. It is
suitable for beginners, older adults, seniors
or anyone wishing to participate, Wednes-
day evenings from 8 to 9 p.m. starting
September 14. Total body conditioning, low
impact aerobics, circuit training, stret-
ching, strengthening for injury prevention
and free weights. Men are encouraged to
join.
