Sewers where rehabilitation is necessary are being identified so that repairs can be carried out. In order to resolve the deficiencies at the sewage pumping, station and eliminate a potentially serious problem of sewage overflow, the pumping station component of the overall project has been separated from the main project and has unaergone a dif- ferent environmental assessment process. This project has now been approved under the Environmental Assessment Act and work will begin as soon as other approvals are receiv- ed. The work will consist of replacing the ex- isting pumping station with a station of greater capacity and the paralleling of the forcernain that leafds to the treatment plant. Presently, the Consulting Engineers, B.M. Ross and Associates Limited of Goderich, are examining methods to expand the existing sewage treatment facility located in Tuckersmith Township. This facility is being designed to meet the future needs of the Town for at least the next twenty years. Part of the environmental assessment process involved a meeting with the surrounding land owners to discuss their concerns and attempt to lessen or eliminate any potential impact. The next stage of the project will involve the publication of an Environmental Study Report, explaining the overall project, the planning and design which was undertaken, and the expected impact on the environment. This Report will be available for public review for a 30 day period. Pending resolu- tion of any concerns, the project will then pro- ceed to construction.. Crime Stoppers and criminal in- vestigators with the Wingham Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police are seeking the assistance of the public to help solve this attempted theft. Sometime between midnight and 3 a.m. on February 12, 1988 thieves entered a barn located at an RR 1 Wroxeter farm. Police believe the would-be thieves herded 20 calves from one barn to another and directed them into a loading chute. They were then loaded into the back of a truck. But, because of the weight of the calves themselves the truck got stuck in the bar- nyard and the thieves were unable to get it out. The calves, valued at $12,000, were found unharmed and were returned to the barn in the morning.
