Seaforth Mgnor residents
hold staff appreciation day
Staff Appreciation Day was held at the
Seaforth Manor last Monday when residents
and the activity department invited ad-
ministration and staff to have coffee time
with them in the activity room.
The tea tables were centered with red
geraniums and gladiolis. Mamie Ross and
Margaret Smale were in charge of the
mystery draw which was won by Linda Mor-
rison. The lucky ticket was drawn by Bert
Deichert. Edith Jessome favored at the
piano with some favorite tunes while staff
enjoyed fresh scones, jam and tea or coffee.
Edict; Salo and Wilma Brill were in charge
of the dishwashing and Denis Arney
presented each staff member with hangars
he had covered. Staff members responded
well to this special event.
Birthday greetings also to Doris Smith
who celebrated her birthday on Monday.
Doris received a nice gift and bouquet of
pink carnations from fellow residents.
Last Tuesday morning was exercise time
and a barbecue was held at noon in the din-
ing room.
Reverend Greg Gilson of St. Thomas
Anglican Church visited Wednesday morn-
ing and conducted worship services.
On Thursday residents were busy painting
ceramics in the afternoon.
Friday was bingo day and lucky winners
were: Under B - Wilma Brill, I - Irene
Omand, N - James Nolan, G - Cassie
Nicholson, and 0 - Keith Herman. Straight
line bingos were won by Eva Netzke,
Marguerite Smale, Denis Arney (2) and Ha
Gardner. Four corners were won by Edith
Salo, Denis Arney and Frank Smale.
Monday afternoon was euchre day and
men's high scores were Frank Smale with
five lone hands, Ed Dunn, high score and
Elmer Bakcsy, consol. 'itign For the ladies it
was Irene Omand with high score, Mamie
Ross with lone hands and Cassie Nicholson
with the consolation.
PERSONALS
Visiting with Nurma Jeffrey were Edith,
Chris and Stevelirown from Toronto.
Alice Byes was visited by husband ''d
and daughter Helen Consitt. On Satui ...,
she was out for lunch with daughter and
husband.
Visiting with Verda Cameron were
daughter-in-law Audrey, also Mr. and Mrs.
Roy Scotchmer and Mr. and Mrs. Lloyd
Makin of Bayfield.
Geraldine and Carolyn 1Vi1sun ited with
Mary Kay Ryan.
Doris Jantzi and Carol Garcho of
Queensway Nursing Home in Hensall
visited at Seaforth Manor last Wednesday.
Visiting with Marjorie Ryan were her hus-
band Laurence, also Bob and Barb Ryan.
Inez Spittal was out on Sunday for a
wheelchair ride with Nancy and Ker.
Larone.
Maria Goovert spent Sunday with her
daughter Elza Ruston.
Lois McLaughlin of Listowel visited her
mother Irene Omand last Saturday.
Edith Jessome was out with friend J0I.11
Goldsmith and visited her sister in Strat-
ford. Also visiting with Edith were Suzanne
and Dwight Mennell and Les, Nelson and
Shawna Jessome.
Rose Altman visited her parents Mr. and
Mrs. Dave Netzke on Sunday.
Visiting with Bill Scott was his wife Isobel.
The sympathy of all residents and staff go
out to Bill Scott at this time on the death of
his two sisters, Misses Elizabeth and Ina,
both of London, who passed away a few days
apart.
Maplewood Manor residents
beat the heat with music
At Maplewood Manor this week, musical
entertainment helped to beat the heat wave.
Along with the fans and shade trees,
residents found relief from the record-
setting high temperatures.
The popular card games bridge and
'euchre were played on the usual days Mon-
day and Tuesday, as well as Thursday this
week.
Despite the heat on Tuesday afternoon
Marie Flynn and the Huron Strings came to
entertain the residents in the upstairs
lounge. Everyone had a grand time. All the
popular "favorites" were, played and
residents were clapping their hands, tapp-
ing their feet or singing along. Many thanks
to Marie and the Huron Strings for coming

On Thursday morning Carole Carter pro-
vided the residents with an hour of
delightful music. All the requested tunes
were played and the halls were filled with
everyone singing or humming the songs.
Friday morning Gail Hills, a volunteer
helper, was in charge of bingo. It was an en-
thusiastic group that gathered in the dining
room. The winners received Wintario
tickets.
Happy Birthday this week to Les Oliver,
Mary Malone and Ed Johns.
Welcome back to Evelyn Willis who was
away for a holiday visiting her son, and
Jessie Finlayson who took a holiday with
her niece and Eva Mills who was away
visiting her family in Brantford.
