The Seaforth Merchants Senior Mens
hardball team eked out a ninth inning 7-6
win over Exeter last Tuesday night.
Down 4-0 Seaforth scored its first run of
the game in the bottom of the third inning,
when Marty Bedard singled, then scored on
Marc Robinet's RBI double.
Exeter widened the gap with a run in the
top of the fourth, only to have Seaforth cut it
by two in the fifth. Scott Driscoll singled in
that inning, reached second on a ground out,
then scored on a single by Gerry Feeney.
Feeney then scored all the way from first on
a triple by Del Mitchelinore.
Seaforth tied the game with two runs in
the sixth inning. Crocker walked, Cairns
singled, and Driscoll singled home Crocker
for one run, and Bedard singled home
Cairns for the tie. The tie remained un-
broken until the ninth inning.
In the top of ninth Exeter took a 6-5 lead on
a perfectly executed suicide squeeze bunt.
Seaforth countered in the bottom of the
ninth when Bedard led off with a double, and

about FreeTrade
Of particular interest to people who live in Ontario
Canada's Parliament and the United details of how this Agreement will affect:
States Congress are currently considering the
Canada—U.S. Free Trade Agreement. You
need to know what this Agreement means to
'you and Canada.
The Government of Canada has
prepared a number of informative studies
and pamphlets explaining
three, Mitchelmore and Robinet with two
apiece and Feeney, Coombs and Crocker
each with one.
Seaforth's seven runs came as a result of
16 hits. Merchants struck out nine times,
walked twice and made only one error.
Eight men were left on base. .
"This was a sweet victory for us," com-
mented coach Robinet.
"We've had trouble with Exeter in the
past, getting mercied twice, but now we've
got a chance to take the season series from
them - we're tied at two wins apiece and one
tie, with one game remaining."
Coach Robinet noted the Merchants had
some key hits in Tuesday's game, and great
defence (with only one error). He also add-
•
ed, "the pitching wasn't bad, with five earth
ed runs through nine innings". •
"I think this ball club is starting to peal,
and it's coming at the right time. Our season;;
hasn't been really great - being mercied fiver
times, but by beating Strathroy, who's ip
first place, and Exeter, who's a close set:
cond, it's given us a big boost. This is t1 e.,,
best thing that could happen to a ball team
getting ready for the OBA and league.
playoffs."
The Merchants next home game will be a
playoff game, but the team and the time,
were unknown at press..time.
The Merchants - are away tonight to
Walkerton, and will revisit that town on,
Sunday.
