Local woman wins ladies golf tourney The Annual Seaforth Golf and Country Club's Ladies Invitational was held on July 20 and Ann Adams from Seaforth bested a field of 60 to win the event with a score of 77. The tournament was a great success with ladies from -many area clubs competing. Following 18 holes of golf a demonstration of golf shots was given by pros Ian Doig and Mark Aebly and then the ladies enjoyed a steak dinner and prize presentation. On Monday the seniors were out in full force and at ladies night winners were Linda Doig and Fran Craig in the blind draw while Judi Weber won with least putts(12). Meanwhile the team of C.A. Doig, Ann Adams, Jean Hag- gitt, and Liz Cardno finished tied for third in the Stratford Golf and Country Club's Best Ball tournament. The team had a net best ball of 59, two shots off the winning score by the St. Mary's team. On Tuesday at Junior morning the win- ners were Karston Carroll, Mike Smale, and Derek Gridzak. The Junior Invitation is August 16 and Juniors are reminded to sign up. Men's Night winners on Tuesday were Mike Marion, Iari Doig and Ian Fowles. The Couples Night on Friday had 15 couples participating in a 4 -man net best ball. Rule of the Week: Local Rules: Rule 33-8 provides that a committee may make local rules for abnormal conditions but a penalty imposed by a Rule of Golf shall not be waiv- ed by a local rule. For example because of extremely wet conditions embedded balls may be lifted but spike marks may not be repaired even under pfior weather conditions.
