CRIME STOPPERS Phone 1-800-265-1777 Over a year and a half from April 1986 to July 1987 Whitechurch Aggregates Ltd. of RR 2 Lucknow have been the victims of three break, enter and thefts. Crime Stoppers and Criminal In- vestigators at the Goderich Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police are asking the assistance of the public to help solve this crime. Each of the break and enters are the same. The thieves park their vehicle at the road and walk to the buildings in the gravel pit. They then proceed to break into the buildings by prying the doors open. Once in- side they steal cash and such tools as ham- mers, drive socket sets, rachet wrenches and electric tools. All the tools are marked with the following engraved letters - WA, Water • from page 1 water pressure as a result of the high consumption. The commissioners acknowledged most of the people of Seaforth have been cooperative and have cut back outside watering voluntarily. The by-law, however, will give them some "teeth" if watering restrictions become necessary. "If something goes wrong and there's no by-law we can't enforce restrictions," com- mented Mayor Alf Ross. Exactly how restrictive the restrictions would be has not yet been determined. Com- mission chairman Gord Pullman felt the commission should have the.authority to be able to notify the public whether there would be absolutely no watering or watering a few days per week depending on what the situa- tion warrants. A copy of the new by-law will probably ap- pear in The Expositor within weeks. VOLTAGE REDUCTION TEST In other PUC business, the commission was informed of a voltage reduction test which Ontario Hydro conducted on July 19, 1988. The test consisted of a three per cent reduction from 10:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m., a five per cent reduction from 1:30 p.m. to 2:30 p.m., and a five per cent reduction from 6:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. The purpose of this test is to find out the amount of load reduction as a result of voltage reduction, and to locate operational and consumer problems as a result of the changes. If any consumers had a problem during one of the reduction periods they are asked to report their problems to the Seaforth WSG or WCA. They would load the tools into a barrel on a cart and wheel them to the roadway. The total loss in cash and equip- ment was over $13,110. This stolen equipment is still out there and is probably being used right now. This equipment can be identified easily. If you have information regarding the whereabouts of these tools call Crime Stop- pers of Huron County toll free at 1.800-265-1777. Your call will not be traced or recorded and your anonymity is guaranteed. If an arrest is made you could earn a cash reward of up to $1,000. You will not, have to identify yourself or testify in court. Remember Crime doesn't pay but Crime Stoppers does. PUC. Generally the public shouldn't have noticed the changes. EUSA VISIT The Electrical Utility Safety Association field safety supervisor visited the hydro utility on June 13. Discussed was overexer- tion, licensing boom truck operators, and the tools and equipment were inspected and found to be in a safe condition. EUSA also visited the water utility on June 7 to observe crews working on West Street. No violations were observed. Concrete poles and hardware have been installed on the new line for the extension of Side Street to Alexander Street. Insulators will be in by the end of the week and and the lines will be usable and service to the hospital will be upgraded. Health • from page 1 A small grou(r went on an informative tour of the Seaforth Community Hospital and the new medical clinic. Miss Rivers says now that people know about the event it could be improved upon if it runs again next year. For example, displays could be made more effective by getting the public more involved in them. Miss Rivers believes it would be wor- thwhile to try Health Day again. °It didn't cost much, and if it keeps people aware of health and what they can do then it's worth it. If it gives them something to do on a Saturday it can't hurt." There will tentatively be another promo- tion in the near future. On August 19 a mid- night madness will be held as a back to school promotion. a ANNOUNCEMENT The opening of a Psychological Service specializing in behaviour problems of adolescence, adult psychotherapy, group, family and couples counselling.
