J.D. Nolan led the way in this close con- test scoring both goals with Mike Murray registering the shutout. ATOMS On Monday, July 11 the St. Columban Atoms hosted Nairn and came away with a 12-0 win. Shaun Anstett kicked in five goals with Greg Van Bakel and Chris Marion scor- ing two each. Greg Visser, Pat Gridzak, and Brandon Nash rounded out the scoring. Adam Nolan and Dan Cronin shared the shutout. The Atoms came to the game ready to play as all players performed well. MOSQUITO 11 Only nine players showed up in Nairn for a game against the Nairn Mosquito I team on Thursday July 7, causing some concern for ELECTRIC LTD. PEE WEE Joe Harris scored two goals, one on a penalty shot, as the St. Columban Pee Wees defeated Ilderton 7-2 in St. Columban on Tuesday, July 12. Game time is.6:30 p.m. Lawnbowling club host to men's pairs tournament The Seaforth Lawn Bowling Club hosted a men's pairs tournament on Wednesday, Ju- ly 13 with 10 greens in play. High teams for the day were Walter Westbrook and partner of Mitchell with 3w plus 46. Second was Ed Smythe and partner of Goderich 3w plus 45; third went to Bill Brown and John Patterson of Seaforth with 3w plus 42 o/p', fourth was Walt Newcombe and Cliff Ashton of Clinton 2w plus 50 o/p' and fifth Jack McDonald and partner of Lucknow 2w plus 45. Consolation prize went to the Exeter team of Ernie Chipchase and Bill Lamport. Six ladies attended a ladies pairs tourna- ment in Goderich on Tuesday, July 12. Eileen Adamson and Jean Lunn were third with 2w plus 42 while Mary Finlayson and, Olive Papple came next with two wins and 40. This tournament was sponsored by Home Hardware of Goderich. The executive of the ladies and men's clubs held a meeting on Thursday evening to finalize plans for the big anniversary tour- nament coming up on August 24. As this is one of the largest tournaments in Western Ontario it will require all members to assist to help make it the success it has been in previous years. All calling captains will be asked to call their lists to remind members and associate members of the donation of a prize'and also an article for the grocery boxes. Fred Tilley is chairman of the tournament and members of the buying committee are Mary Clragline Finlayson, Thelma Coombs and Carol MacLean also Neil Bell, Art Finlayson and Tom Phillips. The social committee with Edna Bell and her helpers will have a busy day providing lunch and supper for some one hundred and forty bowlers. We pre sorry to report Dorothy McCluskie slipped and fell last Thursday evening at the greens and fractured her wrist. We also welcome Anne James as a new bowler and Ida Diehl as an associate member. New bowlers are most -welcome to come to Jitneys Tuesday and nursday evenings or Monday afternoon ladlit bowl at 1:30 pm. The July Pot Luck Supper with cards or bowling after will be Tuesday evening at 6 pm at the Club House. We hope there will be a good turnout of members. Come out and bring your basket, and enjoy the fun. A COUNTRY BREAKFAST will also be hdld at the Van Egmond House on Sunday, July 31 from 8 am until 1 pm. The cost is $4 for adults, $2 for children under 12, and children under 5 are free. The Seaforth-West Branch SISTER CITY GAMES will be held July 29, 30 and 31, 1988 in West Branch, Michigan, U.S.A. Events that will be offered include: softball, baseball, golf, and track and field. These games are open to everyone. If you hosted a child from last year and want to revisit that same person, please let us know. Departure will be on Friday, July 29 from the Seaforth and District Community Cen- tres. Kent Murray holds softball lepd McNichol edged Ken Smith 20-19 in lathes softball action July 12. It was an exciting game to play and watch. A double for Ken Smith was made by Nan- cy Gridzak and triples were hit by Deb Jan - meat and Pam McLay. A home run was made by Judy Anstett. For the winning McNichol team doubles were hit by Lynn Devereaux and Judy Mid- degal. A triple was hit by Jane Hoggart. In a second game July 12 Kent Murray defeated the Queens 23-9. For the Queens doubles were hit by Dianne McGrath and Joanne Holland. A tri- ple was made by Patty Gridzak and a home run by Janice Leonhardt. You had to be there to believe it. For the Murray team doubles were hit by Bonnie Johnston, Connie Marion, Leanne McKay, Judy Mason, Lisa Preszcator, Mar- sha Szusz and Ann Bosman. A triple was hit by Connie Marion and a home run was made by Lisa Preszcator. In the standings Kent Murray has 14 points, the Queens and McNichol 11 each, and Ken Smith 8.
