These energy conser- vation improvements were made possible with a grant of $5,724 from the Ontario Ministry of Energy under the Municipal 011 Conversion and Energy Conservation Program (MOCECP). The money was used to replace three oversized conventional gas furnaces with tugh-efficiency, pulse conousuon units, and to install new light switches, which permit flexible operation of lighting. The payback period for this project is expected to be less than five years. Ontario Energy Minister Robert C. Wong said, 'MOCECP helps municipalities take action to conserve energy and lower their energy costs. Pro- gram grants pay for construction, equip- ment and hiring technical experts to give advice on making energy-saving improvements." Since 1981 MOCECP has helped over 400 municipalities to implement more than 1,400 energy-saving projects. These pro- jects have led to significant reductions in the energy bills of participating municipalities.
