Neighbors and friends gathered recently
gathered at the Staffa Hall for a farewell
party for Jack and Marg Upshall and Don
and Karen McLellan. Gifts were presented
to the two couples and a fitting address read
by Dave Brock.
Progressive Euchre was played and win-
ners were: ladles' high Ruthanne Riley,
ladies' low Betty Irvine, men's high Wade
Riley, men's low Stuart Irvine, lone hands
Monty Plumb.
A social hour was held to finish off the
evening.
NURSERY SCHOOL
If you are interested in registering your
preschooler at Hensall and District Nursery
School for the fall term you should take care
not to wait too long. The morning session is
almost full and the afternoon class is filling
up quickly. If you don't want to be disap-
pointed, make a point to call the registrar
Jacki Blair soon at 262-21rr. Don't be left
out.
PEOPLE
Mrs. Laird Mlckle visited on Sunday with
Grace Peck at Huronview and was a Sunday
evening dinner guest.
Charles Mickle, Hamilton, is spending two
weeks with his mother before leaving for a
month's vacation in the Caribbean on the
lovely island of Nevis.
Hazel Corbett attended the wedding of her
grandson Tony Chaffe to Candace Dow on
Saturday. They were married in Mitchell
United Church by Rev. Pletch. The recep-
tion was held at Mitchell and District Com-
munity Centre with many relatives and
friends attending.
NORTHCREST NEWS
Muriel Hayman is visiting with Carl and
Hilda Payne. They all enjoyed a few days in
Kingston taking in the 1000 Islands boat
cruise, a trip to Wolfe Island and Old Fort
Henry and a tour of Kingston. They ap-
preciated a nice rain on Tuesday although
the weather was a bit on the cool side.
Margaret Mole spent last Wednesday in
Port Elgin visiting with relatives and
friends.
Glen and Pearl McKnight attended the
55th wedding anniversary party for their
brother and sister-in-law Leonard and
Mabel McKnight of Exeter on Saturday '
night. The dinner was held at the Three AAA
Dining Lounge.
Mr. and Mrs. Bill Caldwell of Clinton and
his sister Annie Rfffe along with her son
from El Centro, California spent Thursday
evening with their cousin Babe McGregor of
Northcrest.

The Happy Pushers welcomed several
shufflers from Grand Bend last Tuesday.

The congregation of Hensall United
Church welcomed a new pianist and Choir
Director Deb Wood, on Sunday.
Donna St. John sang a solo "2 see the Love
of God", and Reverend Doug Wright's ser-
mon was "The gift of giving".
Pam Mallette has offered her services as
leader of a junior congregation for the sum-
mer months. This will take place during the
worship time and is open to all children aged
3 to 10.
A hearty thanks to all of those people who
prepared, led, helped and baked for the suc-
cessful Vacation Bible School last week. The
busy week was enjoyed by 70 children.
Flowers for Sunday's services were plac-
ed by Carl and Hilda Payne in loving
memory of their granddaughter Lisa
Darlene Merritt.
Grace Drummond met worshippers at the
door and ushers were Cecil Pepper and Jack
Drysdale.
RECREATF IN PROGRAM

gram. You may do so by calling or dropping

Queensway residents enjoy tour of Goderich
Queensway residents had a good workout
at Fun and Fitness last Monday afternoon.
After exercising everyone enjoyed browsing
through the newspaper and catching up on
the latest news.
On Tuesday afternoon they were pleased
to have Bev Robinson lead the church ser-
vice. Residents look forward to having her
back again.
After Fun and Fitness on Wednesday mor-
ning residents enjoyed some thought pro-
voking word games. In the afternoon
residents had the opportunity to go for a car
ride in the country with the Christian
Reformed ladies. Residents thoroughly en-
joyed the scenic excursion to the Goderich
area. They will certainly miss these ladies

YOUTH FOR CHRIST
South Huron Youth For Christ held its
Chicken Barbecue on Saturday, June 25 at
Ken and Della Gascho's park west'oi' Zurich.
Approximately 100 from Goderich, Clinton,
Exeter, Crediton and other neighbouring
towns attended the annual event. After sup-
per the Goderich Youth Trio comprised of
Lori Coneybeare, Angie Hutchins and
Wayne MacVicar, accompanied by Gladys
Hutchins on the electric piano, sang several
numbers. Also Lloyd Shivrattan from Lon-
don spoke to the group.
The barbecue formally concluded the ac-
tivities of South Huron Youth For Christ for
summer. However, the quiz team will be
returning to Circle 'C' Ranch in Delevan,
New York on Saturday, July 23 to contend
for the trophy and to hopefully bring it back
to Canada again this year. Approximately
12 teams are expected to compete for the
title.
The first rally for Youth For Christ in the
fall will be on Saturday, October 1 at 8 p.m.
at the Brucefield Public School.

Tuesday. June 28 when baby boy Geoffrey
Alderdice was bora. His proud parents are
Gary and Janice Alderdice, grandparents,
Vern and Mona Alderdice and great grand-
mother Rena Caldwell. All reside in the Kip -
pen Community.
Congratulations to Melissa Moffatt,
daughter of Mary and Gerald Moffatt, on
her marriage to Barry Michael Wilson on
Friday, July 1 at Kippen United Church.
Congratulations also to Kai Wisch son of
Uwe and Thea Wisch, who recently
graduated from Sir Sanford Fleming Col-
lege in Lindsay. Kai received his diploma
for a heavy equipment technician and ac-
cepted employment with truck and tractor
