SCRADE - Nicole is pleased to announce the
safe arrival of her baby sister Tracy Ellen,
born at Stratford General Hospital on June
8, 1988, weighing 7 lbs. 14 ozs. Blessed
parents are John and Brenda of RR 5 Mit-
chell. Proud grandparents are Bill and
Merle Smith of RR 5 Seaforth and Howard
and Shirley Schade of RR 2 Milverton.
NESBIT ' - Maurice and Kathy are happy
to announce the birth of Jessica Danielle
on June 3, 1988 at Victoria Hospital, Lon-
don. A sister for Lee and Rae -Lynn. Sixth
grandchild for Bob and Isabelle Bremner
of Ethel and 12th grandchild for George
and Florence Nesbitt, Clinton.
OBITUARIES
JOANNE KNIGHT, daughter of Jack and
Donna Knight of RR 2 Brussels, graduated
on the Dean's Honor List from the Univer-
sity of Western Ontario on June 3, 1988.
Joanne received her Bachelor of Science in
Physical Therapy. She is a former
graduate of Seaforth District High School,
and is presently employed in the Physical
Therapy Department at Kitchener -
Waterloo Hospital.
ROSIE VAN DYK, daughter of Margaret
Van Dyk of Main Street, Seaforth, and the
late Ted Van Dyk, graduated from the
Faculty of Science, University of Western
Ontario, London on Thursday, June 9, 1988.
Rosie received her Honors Bachelor of
Science in Actuarial Science. She is a
graduate of Seaforth District High School
and St. James School, Seaforth. Rosie has
accepted a position hi the Actuarial Depart-
ment at London Life Insurance in London.
LYNNE GODKIN, daughter of Don and
Maja Dodds received her Bachelor of
Education degree at the 250th Spring Con-
vocation Ceremonies at the University of
Western Ontario June 4, 19 Lynne
graduated on the Dean's Honor Roll. She is
a 1987 graduate of the University of
Guelph's Bachelor of Applied Science Pro-
gram, and a 1983 graduate of Seaforth
District High School. Lynne has accepted a
teaching position with the Huron County
Board of Education.
Ladies Aid enjoys successful May luncheon
The Ladies Aid of First Presbyterian
Church, held their meeting on June 5 after a
pot luck lunch. President Viola Lawson
presided and opened the meeting by reading
a poem "My Dear Friends".

Madonna McQuaid was a representative
for the London Western Conservatory of
Music, at a provincial contest held at Wilfrid
Laurier University on June 3, 4 and 5, 1908.
The three days consisted of work shops,
performances and adjucations. Saturday
evening concluded with a banquet for
parents and participants. The calibre was
very high and a learning experience for
students.
Mary Cyr was the adjucator for strings,
voice, piano, brass, woodwinds and choirs,
and sent five contestants on to Alberta for
the National Contest in September.
Madonna is a Grade 13 graduate of
Seaforth District High School and is looking
forward to continuing on in her studies at
university next year.

June pot luck lunch in future, as only six
members and one visitor were present.
Alice Reid gave the treasurer's report,
which showed a very successful May "noon -
luncheon". The ladies also catered a music -
teachers dinner for 26, on June 2. Mary
Riley presided for the program, which con-
sisted of a reading by Marjorie Dale, entitl-
ed "I'm a fabricolic", and a hand -painted
china and ceramics display by Mary Mc-
Clure, who gave an interesting commentary
on her hobby.
After the benediction the meeting ad-
journed. The next meeting will be in
September.
MCGREGOR-DALRYMPLE
Barbara Anne McGregor and Rick
Laverne Dalrymple were married in a dou-
ble ring ceremony Saturday, June 11, 1988 at
the Hensan United Church. The Reverend
Doug Wright officiated. The bride is the
daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Doug McGregor of
RR 2 Kippen and the groom is the son of Mr.
and Mrs. Harold Dalrymple of Egmond-
ville. Maid 6f honor was Laura Collins of RR
2 Kippen and bridesmaids were Donna
Smith of Mitchell, Carol Scott of Staffa and
Judy Dalrymple of Goderich. Flower girls
were Krystal Thompson of RR 1 Brucefield
and Amanda Curtis of Seaforth. Best man
was Kirby Deller of London and guests were
ushered by Brad Smith of Mitchell, Ron
Thompson of RR 1 Brucefield and Brian
McGregor of Kippen. Organist was Mary
Moffatt and soloists were Lori and Lisa
Strong. After a wedding trip to Jamaica the
couple will reside in Brucefield. Phillips -

HAPPY BIRTHDAY
Happy belated birthday Brandon Nash -
nine -years -old on June 13, 1988.
ELMER GEORGE AMOS TOWNSEND
Elmer Townsend died Wednesday, June
8, 1988 at the Clinton Public Hospital. He
was 80.
Born in Tuckersmith Township on May
18, 1908 he was a son of the late Amos
Townsend and the former Hannah
Elizabeth Crich. He was a member of the
Northside United Church, Seaforth and a
former member of Turner's United
Church, Tuckersmith Township, where he
sang in a quartette.
After his retirement he helped his
children farm and renovate their homes.
He enjoyed camping, playing cards, bowl-
ing and other Seniors' games. Mr. Town-
send would have represented Seaforth at
the District games in Stratford on June 20
and 21.
A few short years ago he loved his old
time dancing and in his words "there's
nothing like a good old waltz." He also wat-
ched, with great pride, his grandchildren
participate in varied activities.
Mr. Townsend is survived by his wife,
the former Dorothy Broadfoot; ijaughters,
Elizabeth and husband Robert Haves of
Duntroon and Ex -ma Mae and husband
Pete Haswell of Elora; and sons, Alex and
wife Eileen of Tuckersmith, George and
wife Ruth of Tuckersmtih and Gerald and
wife Mary of Arthur,
Also surviving are grandchildren: Gary
Haves of London; Wayne Haves of Kit-
chener; Grant Haves of Duntroon; David
Townsend and wife Connie of Winnipeg;
Julie Townsend of Kitchener; Scott Town-
send of Tuckersmith; Rob and Cheryl
Haswell of Elora; Murray, Matt and
Charlene Townsend of Tuckersmith; and
Ray, Michael, Daphne and Daniel Town-
send of Arthur; and great granddaughter
Elysia Townsend.
Mr. Townsend was predeceased by one
grandson Jamie Townsend; one sister Ila
Walters and one brother Raymond.
Friends were received at the Whitney-
Ribey Funeral Home, Seaforth and a
funeral service was held Friday with the
Reverend James Vanslyke officiating.
Pallbearers were six grandsons - Gary,
Wayne and Grant Haves, Scott Townsend,
Rob Haswell and Murray Townsend.
Honorary pallbearers were Art and Mary
Finlayson, two very good friends.
D. GORDON SCOTT
D. Gordon Scott of RR 2 Staffa, died
Thursday, June 9, 1988 at the Seaforth
Community Hospital. He was 72.
Born in Hibbert Township on February
15, 1916, Mr. Scott was a son of the late
Thomas Scott and the former Sadie
McKellar. On September 18, 1940, he was
married to Hazel M. Colquhoun. Mr. Scott
was a member of Cromarty Presbyterian
Church and a member of the Mitchell
Pioneer and Hobby Association.
In addition to his wife, Mr. Scott is sur-
vived by five daughters, Ina and husband
Reg Finlayson of Staffa, Dorothy and hus-
band Douglas Eyre of St. Thomas, Anna
and friend Lonnie McCorkle of London,
Agnes Splane and friend Wayne Akins of
St. Thomas and Frances and husband Jim
Melville of London.
Also surviving are; one brother Jim
Scott and wife Allene of Mitchell and six
grandchildren, Mike Finlayson, Rick,
Steven and Michelle Eyre and Bev and
Pam Splane.
Friends were received at the Lockhart
Funeral Home in Mitchell and a funeral
service was held Monday with the
Reverend Lucy Milne officiating. During
the service members of the Cromarty
Presbyterian Church choir sang Amazing
Grace, accompanied by Betty Lou Norris
at the organ.
Flowerbearers were the six
grnachildren and pall bearers were; Dun-
can and Ron Scott, Gordon Colquhoun,
Larry Gardiner, John Hamilton and Jim
Hocking. Interment was in Staffa
Cemetery. On Sunday evening members of
the Mitchell Pioneer and Hobby Associa-
tion paid their respet'ts at the funeral
home. ®.
