The Huron Expositor, 1988-06-08, Page 22Highschool students assist residents This week residents of Maplewood Manor have made good use of the lawn furniture as they enjoyed sitting outside taking advan- tage of the warm weather. Tuesday morning, the Grade 11 students from the family studies class came to Maplewood. Some of the pupils washed cars while others took residents uptown or took them out for walks. Those who stayed in- doors played euchre and assisted with some furniture moving. These students gave a hand wherever needed andwe thank them for their terrific help.. Wednesday morning, residerhs took their place in the sitting room when Rev. Barber came for church service. Winona McDougall nroempanied ^^ t" ^ piano for the hymns. Everyone enjoyed his visit. In the afternoon there were a few interested residents who came out for bridge and euchre as well. Cooler weather set in for the remainder of the week and residents spent a great deal of their time reading and playing cards. Happy Birthday wishes to Walter Som- merville who celebrated his birthday Satur- day, June 4. Welcome back to Arnold Lamont from Seaforth Community Hospital. This week, residents and staff welcome Mary and Steve Lupul to Maplewood Manor. Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Maloney and Grace Broadfoot assisted with their move. This didn't happen but it could have - easily! During the week of April 23 to April 26, 1988, thieves stole stop signs and other road signs. In Hay Township two bump signs on Con- cession 8-9, two curve signs on Concession 29-30, two curve signs on sideroad 5, and two curve signs on sideroad 10, were all stolen. In Stephen Township a stop sign at Con- cession 22 and Hwy. 81 was first stolen through the night of April 23-24 and the replacement sign stolen during the night of April 25-26. The total dollar loss was over $300 but, that is secondary. The danger the public was subjected to is the real concern. For- tunately no accidents occurred on any of the roads mentionned, but the danger was very real. Crime Stoppers and investigators at the Ontario Provincial Police in Exeter are appealing to the public to help solve this crime and stop it from happening again. If you have information about this or any other crime call Crime Stoppers of Huron County toll free at 1-800-265-1777. Your call will not be traced or recorded, and your anonymity is guaranteed. If an arrest is made you could earn a cash reward of up to $1,000. You will not have to identify yourself or testify in court. Remember crime doesn't pay, but Crime Stoppers does.
