WEINERS'
DON MELADY, son of Edward and
Frances Melady of St. Columban, was
awarded the degree of Doctor of Medicine
on June 3, 19 at the 250th Convocation of
the University of Western Ontario, Lon-
don. Don is a graduate of St. Columban
School and Seaforth District High School
and holds an Honors BA in French and
English from the University of Western
Ontario. The staff of the Office of the Dean
of Medicine presented him with the K.W.
Calhoun Award for "warmth, friendliness,
enthusiasm and a contribution to the spirit
of the class". He received the Andrew D.
Mason Memorial Award for his medical
work in developing countries. Don was
also selected by his classmates as the reci-
pient of the Dr. Glen Wither Memorial
Award. This award is given tothe member
of the graduating class "who
demonstrates the highest attributes of the
physician - integrity, compassion, concern
for his patients, and a devotion to the pro-
fession". Don is entering the Family
Medicine program at the University of
Toronto and will be working at Women's
College Hospital, Toronto.

Mary Elizabeth Saundercock and
Robert Douglas Axtmann were married
Saturday, June 4, 1988 at the Wesley Willis
United Church, Clinton. The bride is the
daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Robert Saunder-
cock of Clinton and the groom is the son of
Mr. and Mrs. James Axtmann of RR 4
Walton. Maid of honor was Brenda
Hymers of Clinton, and bridesmaids were
Lori Craig of Goderich, Sharon Saunder-
cock of Goderich and'Suzanne Hamilton of
Goderich. Best man was David Townshend
of Winnipeg and guests were ushered by
Dennis Loughnane of California, Robert
Leeming of Seaforth and Ken Axtmann of
Walton. Following a reception at the
Goderich Township Hall in Holmesville the
couple took a honeymoon trip to the United
States. They will reside in Guelph. Frank

MARGARET MARIE COYNE
Margaret Marie Coyne died Tuesday,
May 31, 1988 at the Norview Lodge in Sim-
coe. She was 85.
The former Margaret Feeney, she was
the aunt of Ron, Jim and Mac Feeney and
Linda Anstett and Bill, Ambrose and
Eileen Doyle. She was sister-in-law of
Lewis and Mary Coyne and Mary Coyne,
all of Seaforth; Sister Isadore and Sister
Matilda, both of London; Sister Rita of
Goderich;, Matthew and Al Coyne of
Brantford and Emma Conovan of Simcoe.
Mrs. Coyne was predeceased by two
husbands, Joseph Coyne in 1979 and Mack
Donovan in 1955; a sister Mona; brothers,
Joseph and Wilfred; niece Donna Edwards
and nephew, Vince Doyle.
Friends called at the Thompson Waters
Funeral Home, Port Dover and a funeral
mass was held at St. Cecilia's Church, Port
Dover on Thursday, June 2, 1988. Father
Matthais Wromski officiated. Interment
Port Dover Cemetery.
MRS. BEATRICE STAHLKE
Mrs. Beatrice Stahike of 164 Quebec St.,
Mitchell, died at the Stratford General
Hospital on Monday, May 30, 1988 in her 74th
year.
She was the former Beatrice Laura
Youngblut and was born in Ellice Township
on November 5, 1914, a daughter of the late
George Youngblut and the former Bertha
Graul. On November 6, 1935, she was mar-
ried to William E. Stahike who survives.
Following their marriage, the couple
farmed in Fullarton Township until their
retirement to Mitchell in 1974. Mrs. Stahlke
was a member of the Grace Lutheran
Church, Mitchell, and a member of the
Ladies Aid of the church.
Surviving besides her husband are two
sons John and his wife Helen of Stratford
and Ken and his wife Barb of RR 2 St. Pauls;
two daughters Betty and her husband Con
Enns of RR 2 St. Pauls and Dorothy and her
husband Elson Smith of Seaforth; two
sisters Mrs. Gus (Elizabeth) Stahlke and
Mrs. Andrew (Viola) Dittmer, both of Mit-
chell. Also surviving are seven grand-
children Judy Enns, Susan and Wendy
Smith, Christopher and Matthew Stahlke
and Jennifer and Darryl Stahike. She was
predeceased by one grandson Jerry Enns
(1982) and one brother Rudolph Youngblut
(1976).
Friends were received at the Lockhart
Funeral Home, Mitchell until noon on
Thursday when transfer was made to Grace
Lutheran Church for the funeral service
With Rev. Michael Thurau officiating.
Members of Grace Lutheran Ladies Aid at-
tended the service in a body and formed a
guard of honor outside the church.
Flower bearers were Christopher, Jen-
nifer and Darryl Stahlke—all grandchildren.
Pallbearers were Bill and Arden Stahlke,
George Schutt, Gary Youngblut, Graham
Ewart and Alan Riehl. Interment was in
Grace Lutheran Cemetery, Mitchell.

EDWARD LARNE OKE, son of John and
Joan Oke and grandson of Jessie Boyd,
graduated with honors with a Bachelor of
Science in Agriculture Business from the
University of Guelph. Ted is presently
employed by the Ontario Ministry of
Agriculture and Food in Elm Vale,
Ontario.
OTTO O.C. WALKER
Otto O.C. Walker, formerly of Cromarty,
died Wednesday, June 1, 19 i at the South
Huron Hospital, Exeter. He was 84.
Mr. Walker is survived by a son, Ken-
neth ...Walker of London; and daughters,
Helen (Mrs. Hugh Currie) of Dorchester,
Margaret (Mrs. Robert Hulley) of
Seaforth, Caroline (Mrs. Jack McGhee of
London and Alice (Mrs. Larry Gardiner)
of Cromarty.
Also surviving are 17 grandchildren and
10 great-grandchildren.
Mr. Walker was predeceased in 1976 by
his wife, the former Josephine Davis, and
in 1983 by his son Alexander Walker.
Friends called at the Hopper -Hockey
Funeral Home, Exeter and a funeral ser-
vice was held Saturday with the Reverend
Lucy Milan officiating. Interment Staff a
Cemetery.
HARRY IVISON (IVY) HENDERSON
Harry Ivison (Ivy) Henderson died Tues-
day, May 31, 1988 at the Seaforth Communi-
ty Hospital. He was 97.
Born in 1890 in McKillop Township in the
stone house built by his grandfather, Mr.
Henderson spent many years farming on the
homestead, until he and his wife moved to
Egmondville where he was semi -retired.
After his wife, the former Edna Love, died
Mr. Henderson spent the last few years with
his daughter Lois Churchward in Toronto.
He was admitted to Sunnybrook Hospital in
Toronto in March, and later transferred by
air -ambulance to Seaforth Community
Hospital.
Mr. Henderson is survived by three sons,
Arthur of Seaforth, John of Sauble Beach
and William (Bill) of Egmondville; and one
daughter Lois Churchward of Toronto. He is
:also survived by 21 granddhildren and 27
great-grandhchildren.
It was gratifying to the family how many
friends and former neighbors called at the
Whitney-Ribey Funeral Home, where Rev.
Cheryl -Ann Stadelbauer-Sampa conducted
the service on June 3. Rev. Cheryl -Ann men-
tioned Mr. Henderson's long connection
with Duff's Church in McKillop and with
Egmondville United Church. In his younger
years Mr. Henderson was a member of the
choir and active in the Sunday School.
As Mr. Henderson had previously re-
quested his grand -daughter Dianne Grebb
sang, "When They Ring the Golden Bells for
You and Me".
Pallbearers were all grandsons - Bev
Henderson, Bill Henderson, Jim Henderson,
Murray Henderson, Ron Henderson and
Dale Churchward.
Flowerbears were also grandsons - Bob
Henderson, Bruce Henderson, Don Hender-
son, Doug Henderson and Jeff Henderson.
Following the service at Maitland Bank
Cememtery, relatives and friends returned
to Egmondville United Church where the
UCW ladies provided refreshments. After-
wards the family went back to the house
where Mr. Henderson had lived for so many
years in Egmondville, now the home of his
son Bill, and enjoyed a buffet supper.
WATSON ROBERT WEBSTER
Watson (Wet) Robert Webster of Clin-
ton, and formerly of Stanley Township,
well known for his musical talents and for
the -nay visits he made to hospitals, nurs-
ing homes and other areas entertaining the
sick and shut-ins with his mouth organ,
died Monday, May 25, 1988 in the Clinton
Public Hospital. He was 84.
Born on June 21, 1903 in Kinloss
Township in Bruce County, he was a son of
the late Robert Daniel and Jessie Ann
(Watson) Webster. He married the former
Ruby Taylor, 56 years ago.
Mr. Webster farmed in Stanley
Township; was a member of the Ontario
Street United Church, Clinton; an
honorary member of the Royal Canadian
Legion, Clinton Branch No. 140; as well as
a member and past master of the Varna
LOL 1035. He was also a past chairman of
the Baird's Cemetery Board.
One of the highlights of Mr. Webster's
life was his trip to Pasadena, California
with the Ontario Massed Pipe and Drum
Band where he was in the Rose Bowl
Parade.
In addition to his wife Mr. Webster is
survived by two daughters, Margery (Mrs.
Ray Huether) of RR 3 Walton and Nancy
(Mrs. Jack Holmes) of Clinton; and one
son, Mack and wife Janet of RR 1 Varna.
Also surviving are eight grandchildren;
and one brother Melvin L. and his wife Lila
of Clinton.
Mr. Webster was predeceased by one
brother Elmer.
A funeral service, which was attended
by over 250 people, was held at the Ball and
Falconer Funeral Home, Clinton on May
27. Reverend David Woodall officiated,
and interment was in Baird's Cemetery,
Stanley Township.
Pallbearers were Danny Holmes, John
Huether, Steven Huether, Grant Webster,
Robert Webster and Adam Wilson.
Flower bearers were Margy Holmes,
Mark Webster, Mary Ellen Webster, Mary
Yanchus and Jeffrey Yanchus.
A memorial service was held May 26 by
the Varna LOL 1035.
