SHUFFLEBOARD
The ladies really were tops in Shuf-
fleboard on Tuesday, May 24. Eileen
Dowson overpowered all of the opposition
with a score of 485. Next was Vera Ross with
442 and Emma Campbell followed with 424.
Rounding out the top 6 were Dorothy Brint-
nell 410, Percy Campbell 402 and John Pep-
per 396. Shuffling every Tuesday at the Hen-
sall Arena.
COItIMUNITY YARD SALES
There were approximately 50 yard sales
and bake sales scattered around the village
of Hensall on Saturday. Parking spots were
at a premium as visitors flooded into town to
shop for bargains. They were able to enjoy a
delicious firemen's breakfast as well as a
quick lunch at one of many booths and
delicious baked goods.
The Hensall Minor Hockey fundraising
committee would like to thank everyone
who donated items as well as everyone who
helped with the sale, particularly the young
people who turned out to help. It was all
On Saturday the Beavers spent the day at
Benmiller for their annual Beaveree. It was
a hot day but the boys enjoyed every minute
of it. Thanks to the Venturers from Huron
District who prepared lunch for 300 hungry
beavers.
UNITED CHURCH
Reverend Wright conducted the weekly
Worship`Service at Hensall United Church
with assistance from The Oddfellows and
Rebekahs.
The Rebekahs and Cantons sang the
Prelude. For the children's time Rev.
Wright told a story of a family in Africa who
received a parcel of tools and seeds sent
with love from the United Church Missions.
The Old Testament lesson was read by
Noble Grand Wayne Love, while Grant St.
John, Chaplain, read the Epistle Lesson.
The Psalm was read by District Deputy
Grand Master Eric Mansfield. All of these

Sunday School crafts will be on display
next Sunday after Church in the Fellowship
Hall. Sunday June 12 will be promotional

Vacation Bible School runs from Monday
June 27 through Friday, July 1. Registration
forms are available by the Church en-
trances. Volunteers are still needed as
assistants to the teachers, babysitters for
teachers' children and to look after the
registration desk on June 27.
Queensway yard sale ambitious undertaking
Queensway Nursing Home residents

United Church Women on the holiday
Monday.
Fun and Fitness had everyone occupied
Tuesday morning. Residents had lots of fun
playing word games after their exercise ses-
sion. Rev. Van Essen led the worship ser-
vice in the afternoon. Several residents
reminisced with Rev. Van Essen about the
many years he has been leading the ser-
vices, and look forward to enjoying him for
many more.
IQUEENS S WAY
Wednesday afternoon Iva Reid assisted
several residents with Bowling at Zurich,
Town and Country Lanes. Neil Regan was
men's high bowler, followed closely by Mur-
ray Howe. Mildred Gingerich was ladies'
high.

on Thursday afternoon. Birthday greetings
to Gord Schwalm, Lloyd McDougall, Lucille
Jeffrey, Bill Eveland, Aleida Kats, Elmer
Pooter, Luella Hall, Hazel Mason, Lilliam
Smith, Bernard Keyes, Lorne Johnston, and
Janet MacKinnon. Thank you to Lorne
Johnston and Lloyd McDougall for con-
tributing to our program with their whistl-
ing and recitations. Several residents en-
joyed viewing our movie feature Thursday
evening "The Great Whales", a National
Geographic production.
Friday morning Resident Council met.
The decision was made to not put a float in
the Hensall parade this year. Residents will
just sit back and enjoy watching. Interna-
tional Day featuring Hawaii was celebrated
Friday afternoon with an excellent film on
Hawaii and a presentation by Edison For-
rest about his visit to Hawaii. Following the
program all feasted on orange pineapple ice
cream and a special treat of birthday cake
in honor of Elmer Potter's 80th birthday.
The cake was contributed by his daughter
Cathy.
Thank you Eileen Ramie for loaning the
beautiful Muu Muu and leis and thank you
also to Elva Forrest and Harold Tripp for
loaning their artifacts from Hawaii.
Saturday was the Big Day, Queensway's
Yard Sale which was an ambitious under-
taking by staff, residents and Queensway
Auxiliary. Residents would like to thank all
who participated whether • by helping,
donating items or shopping at the sale.Good-
bye till next week from Queensway.
Coming events are: June 4 - Bfke-a-thon
for Alzheimers Research and June 17 is the
Talent Show 2-3 pm.

Rev. Lorne Keays led the church service
at St. Andrews United Church in Kippen on
Sunday, May 29. His sermon "would you be
convicted?" was a study of the letter from
James. Barbara Cooper presided at the
organ.
Kippen's open air service and picnic is on
Sunday, June 19 at the ball diamond of the
Stanley Complex at 11 a.m.
PERSONALS
The family of Greg Hoggarth, along with
Judy Dunn and Annette Losereit, attended
Greg's convocation ceremonies on Satur-
day, May 29. Greg received his bachelor of
math degree with a teaching option from the
University of Waterloo.
