that tune to Seaforth's Main Street shoppers. Their presence in

Residents combine weather and ice cream
Seaforth Manor residents joined in for ex-
ercises for fun and fitness last Monday mor-
ning in the day room to start off the week's
activities. Usually hockey and baseball
scores are the first topics during the current
events.
Tuesday student volunteers assisted with
wheelchair bowling and in the afternoon a
film was shown.
Worship services were conducted on
Wednesday afternoon by Rev. Greg Gilson
of St. Thomas Anglican Church.
Thursday morning the ladies were busy at
crafts while in the afternoon cards and
checkers were played.
Bingo was cancelled on Friday as
residents sat out on the lawn and enjoyed
the beautiful summer like weather.
Everyone was treated to an ice cream cone
also.
Birthday Greetings to Lillie Hudie who
celebrated her 97th birthday on Monday
May 9, and Margeurite Shill who celebrated
hers on Thursday, May 5. Residents and
staff presented each lady with a bouquet of
pink carnations.
Sunday was Mother's Day and many
Maplewood
residents
entertained
residents either had visitors or spent the day
with their families.
Visiting with Marjorie Ryan were Jack
and Monica Ryan, her husband Laurence,
and Bob and Barbara Ryan. Also last Thurs-
day she was visited by her daughter Joan of
Montreal.
Edith Jessome was visited on Sunday by
her son Silby and granddaughter Brenda
and then went out for supper to son Bernie
and Karen's home and family. Also visiting
with' Edith on Sunday were Ralph and Betty
Bohn and during the week Lloyd Longman
and Gladys Osborne of Stratford and John
Goldsmith visited.
Visiting with Alice Boyes on Sunday were
her son Jim and daughter Helen Consitt
while on Saturday her daughter Dorothy
Uniac visited.
Cassie Nicholson attended the church lun-
cheon with her daughter-in-law Beryl on
Tuesday. On Saturday daughter Barbara
Alexander visited and on Sunday she en-
joyed a drive with Ross and Lillian
Nicholson.
Irene Omand was visited by her daughter
Lois McLaughlin on Sunday afternoon and
by her daughter-in-law Joyce Omand on
Saturday.
Maria Gooverts spent Mother's Day at the
home of her daughter Elza Ruston.
Gladys Ruston spent Sunday at her home
in Stratford with her family.
Dave and Eva Netzke had supper Sunday
evening with Pat and Rose Altman.
Visiting with Inez Spittal was her. son
Peter and family on Sunday.
Annie Harrison was visited by her
daughter Lois and son-in-law Bill Hodgert.
Mabel Handy enjoyed an outing for
Mother's Day with her daughter Gladys Van
Egmond.
Visiting with Harold Maloney during the
week were Frank Maloney and daughter
Lois Schmidt of Stratford, also his wife
Marjorie.
Florence Stewart visited with Bill Scott,
Madeline Slattery and Norma Jeffrey on
Tuesday afternoon. Also visiting with Bill
Scott was his wife Isabel.
Ethel Haist took Mamie Ross and
Margaret Smale shopping on Thursday of
last week.
The -May Resident Council Meeting was
held on Saturday morning at 10 am. Presi-
dent Patrick Ryan chaired the meeting.
We are sorry to report that Mary K. Ryan
and Verda Cameron are presently confined
to Seaforth Community Hospital. A speedy
recovery is wished for both of them.

Police are looking for the thief who stole a
microwave oven from Royal Homes Ltd.
located on Arthur Street in Wingham. The
theft occurred on November 17 or 18, 1987.
The microwave was to be installed in a
new home and was stored in the back shop
awaiting completion of the house. It is
described as a 30 inch, under the cupboard,
Admiral microwave/exhaust fan, brown in
color with a smoked glass door. The oven is
valued at $800.

Residents of Maplewood Manor will be
able to enjoy the summer weather on the
new patio which was completed this week.
Shrubs and flowers will be planted to give
the finished look to the patio and new addi-
tion of the dining room.
Tuesday morning residents welcomed the
high school students who came for a euchre
party. Euchre is a favorite card game at
Maplewood and residents thoroughly en-
joyed this event with the students.
Wednesday morning residents gathered in
the sitting room for church service which
was conducted by Pastor Sadler. He was ac-
companied by Mr. and Mrs. Lobb who pro-
vided the music.
Thursday afternoon residents were enter-
tained by the Grade 5 and 6 students from
Huron Centennial School. The program con-
sisted of many selections sung by the choir,
which was acompanied by Mrs. Jewitt on
the piano. Also a very humorous skit called
"The Three Little Pigs" was presented by
the students under the direction of Mrs.
Cooper. After the pupils introduced
themselves, refreshments were served to
everyone. The residents had a very en-
joyable afternoon and were very impressed
by the talents and good manners
demonstrated by the youngsters. Thank you
to Mrs. Turner for organizing the visit to
Maplewood.
Residents were eager to try their luck at
bingo on Friday afternoon. The lucky win-
ners were Isa Stanely, Anna Sherrin and Ed
Johns.
Sunday was a very busy day at
Maplewood Manor as many residents had
visitors to celebrate Mother's Day.
Happy Birthday to Ethel Coleman who
celebrated her birthday on Tuesday, May 3
and also to Agnes Hunter on Friday, May 6.
