Wild Ones take field trip to bush St. Columban Correspondent MRS. CECILIA RYAN 345-2028 Report by Morgan Murray On May 5 the McKillop IV "Wild Ones" went to the bush for their field trip. Everyone got a partner and went looking for objects found in the outdoors. They also did a "blind walk." The leaders, Cora and Janneke, got the two campfires going and all enjoyed hot dogs, beans, S'mores, apples on a stick and toasted marshmallows. After eating they put out the fire, cleaned up and left the bush to walk back about 7 pm. All the books and special projects are to be handed in on Wednesday and Achieve- ment Night will be on Thursday, June 2 at Family Paradise, (pictures at 7:15 and the program at 7:30 pm) - 441 report by Morgan Murray. McKillop township receives an unexpected 176,900 At the May meeting of the McKillop Township Council, the councillors were sur- prised to find they had received additional funding for garage improvements. Council was notified it had received $76,900 as a supplementary subsidiary allocation to be applied only to the garage renovations expenses. The funding comes from the Ministry of Transportation and Communications and is in addition to $250,900 the township has already received for road projects. Last year the township put an addition on its garage and renovated the building. $73,200 of the cost was paid last year. An open house will be held in the garage May 28 from 2 pm to 4:30 pm, and will in- clude a ribbon cutting ceremony to officially open the improved township building. In other business council granted permis- sion to the Winthrop Community Centre Recreation Committee to apply for a permit for the sale of beer at the Co-ed Slow Pitch Ball Tournament to be held on August 12, 13 and 14 at Winthrop Park. Marie Hicknell and William Siemon were appointed to attend a joint meeting with representatives from Seaforth, Hallett and McKillop. The purpose of the meeting is to establish a procedure by which the three municipiities will appoint one represen- tative to the Ausable Hayfield Conservation Authority in 1989. In the past each of the municipalities had its own representative on the conservation authority. Council appointed Pollard Brothers Calcium Limited for supply, delivery and application of liquid calcium chloride on township roads for dust control. The cost of this service will be $214.39 per flake ton. Building permits issued by council for the month of April totalled $172,000.
