Seaforth area students display talents in Mitchell Seafu th area students were given the chance to show off their musical talents last week at the 42nd Annual Mitchell Music Festival. The five day festival was organized for the second year in a row by the Mitchell Jaycees. Competition ran from Monday morning to Friday night and featured local talent in many classes of piano, violin, and voice competitions. St. James Separate school was the only one in the Seaforth area to participate as a school. Not all of the students named here competed at the same grade level as they at- tend in school, and there were quite a number of students in older grades who played against younger students who had comparable musical experience. In the voice competition Michael Van Bakel won second in the Grade 2 boys solo, Anna Mailloux was first in the Grade 3 girls solo, Sarah Noakes was first in Grade 1 girls solo and was also the best overall Grade 2 competitor, and Danielle Kistner placed third in the Grade 1 girls solo. Jeff Denys placed first in the Grade 6 solo, Mike Etue was third in Grade 7 solo, Julie Medd was third in the Grade 1 piano coin Donny Sills won first in Grade 5 solo, An- drew Dale received second in the Grade 4 solo, and Mike Devereaux placed second among Grade 6 soloists. Seaforth Public School didn't participate in the festival as a school, but like many schools In the area it was represented by students who competed on their own. Julie Carter and Jodie Hugill represented SPS. St. Patrick's in Dublin had Robert Seiler win first in the Grade 4 boys voice solo; Mary Jane Coyne was first in Grade 5 piano solo and second in sight reading; Jennifer Ryan placed fourth in the Grade ,5 piano solo, and then the two above mentionned girls claimed third in the piano duet. Darren Dumas also competed in the BAKED FRESH DAILY Tasty Nu White BREAD Grade 5 piano solo, but his placement is not known. Stephen Hicknell of Grade 7 won se- cond in the voice solo, and Jolene Cronin of Grade 8 won second in voice. St. Columban's Jamie Maloney had two firsts, one in piano solo and another in Grade 1 and 2 piano duet. Jane Crowley of Grade 3 sang solo, Julianne Crowley placed 'second in Grade 2 solo, and Cathy Coyne played in the Grade 1 piano solo.
