Nineteen ladies sat down to a turkey sup-
per at the Walton Hall Wednesday evening.
The meal was catered by Joan Smith and
Beth Earl. Margaret Shortreed thanked the
girls on behalf of the Institute.
The April meeting was held upstairs con-
ducted by the President, Helen Craig, She
opened with a poem. Marjory Humphries
was pianist. Margaret Shortreed read
minutes, correspondence and financial
statement.
Roll call was the payment of fees. One
new memberoined. There ma a discussion
on the recycling that can be done at the,
dump, to start this fall. Plans were made for
the Dessert Euchre to be held the next night.
New luncheon names have been drawn up.
The annual meeting was held, reports
were given. Auditors Leona McDonald and
Margery Huether found the books correct.
Program Co-ordinator Marjory Humphries
reported on the convenors meetings of the
year. Annie Reid reported for the
Tweedsmuir History. Resolutions by
Marion Godkin, Public Relations by Betty
McCall. Ruth Axtmann seconded all
reports.
Helen Craig gave a summary of her
year's work. Marion Godkin thanked Helen
for her past two years as President, and.
presented her with a gift. Perfect Atten-
dance awards for the year were given to

business were reviewed.
District annual delegates ort May 10 to
Moncrief are Leona McDonald, Marion
Godkin and Viola Kirkby. Mary,Humphries
presented Alberta Stevens with a gift as she
has moved to Blyth. Helen called on new
President, Marion Godkin who expressed
the same help in the coming year. It was

CANVAS COMPLETED
The Canvas for the Cancer Fund has been
completed and $228 was realized in the
village of Walton. Thanks is extended to all
who contributed. Canvassers were Viola
Kirkby, Kathleen Williamson and Audrey
Hackwell.
DESSERT EUCHRE
Dessert Euchre sponsored by the
Women's Institute closed the season on
Thursday evening.
After sampling the many desserts, euchre
was played upstairs with 12 tables in play.
Prizes were given out by the committee in
charge. High lady -Jean Scott; second high -
Blanche Hoegy;. low -Shirley Glousher, lady
with birthday closest to date -Irma Brighton,
lucky tally for lady -Gloria Love. High man -
Wilfred Shortreed; second high -Ross
Brighton, low -Lavern Godkin; man with bir-
thday closest to date -Elmer Townsend;
lucky tally -Pearl McCallum(playing as a
man). Lucky table No. 7 -Helen Williamson,
Iona McLean, Ann Smith, Hesselwood. Most
No. 2 on card - Ruth Shiels, most o's on card -
John Simpson. Travelling prize -Jean Scott.
Every month the cards were gathered and
the highest score of the season of $25 went to
Jim Smith, second prize of $15 went to Ross
Brighton and $10 third prize was won by Ann
Smith. The Institute will start euchres again
next fall.

WALTON UNITII
Unit II of the Walton United Church
Women met for their Aprll meeting at the
home of Pearl McCallum. The devotions
were led by Marilyn McDonald and
Kathleen Williamson centering around
Easter. The topic chosen was "Walking
where Jesus walked". Business was con-
ducted by President Kathleen Williamson
with Margaret Craig reading minutes.
Several coming events were given out. Our
unit have flowers to put in church for the
month of May. The beef barbecue date for
June 11, 5-7 p.m. Tickets are available from
any member. May 4Is a joint meeting.
Prayer closed the meeting and a social half
hour was enjoyed.
DUFF'S UNITED
Fourth Sunday,of Easter at Duff's United
Church. Doreen Hackwell greeted at the
door. Margery Huether was pianist. Ushers
were Blaine Marks, John Gillis and Neil
McGavin.
The Junior Choir sang an Anthem, "The
Psahn of the Good Shepherd" directed by
Rev. Bonnie Lamble with Marion Godkin as
pianist. The. sermon was on "Our
Shepherd's Care".
The sacrament of Baptism will be
celebrated May 29. Parents wishing
children baptized get in touch with Bonnie
as soon as possible.
LOCAL BRIEFS
Gordon Craig, Guelph spent a couple of
days last week with Harvey and Margaret
Craig.
Blaine Marks accompanied the Grade 13
students by train to Montreal where they
had a tour of that city recently.
Sunday guests with Ruth Thamer were
John . and Kim Thamer, London, Ruthie
Thamer, Kitchener; Clint and Judy Em-
mrich, Jamie and Katie, Walton.
Brian Marks and Linda Bruneau of
Calgary, have returned home from several
months of travelling. They left on December
14, touring to Hong Kong and going through
several of the Islands of Taiwan. Brian
remarks it was one way of seeing the world
and learning different cultures. Brian spent
the past few days with his parents.
Visiting with Nelson and Maxine Marks on
Sunday to view Brian's pictures: and hear of
their experiences were Brian and Sharon
Pryce, Winthrop; Jean Bewley, Brussels;
Lawrence and Dorothy Marks, Exeter.
Tracy Salverda visited at the home of
Nelson Marks over the weekend.

Mr. and Mrs. Wilfred $trickier visited last
Tuesday with Margaret Waddell at Foliar -
ton. The ladies are sisters.
Mr. and Mrs. Don Cotton visited in Owen
Sound with their grandson Steven and Mrs.
Starr and little daughter.
Mr. and Mrs. Jim Keys, Seaforth, were
supper guests of Mrs. Mac Engel on
'Thursday.
The Hall Board is holding its last euchre of
the season on Friday, Aprll 29 at 8:30 p.m. in
the Community Centre.
On Friday, April 22 a large crowd attend-
ed the euchre and beef draw for the
Foresters final euchre of the season. Twenty
tables played, with couple with the highest
count; - John Subject and Audrey Adams,
lowest count -Gordon Hanna, Isabelle Craig,
most lone hands at 1 table - Jean Bewley,
June Jacklin, Lloyd Smith, Ross Stephen-
son, table 8 - Ruth Jenkins, Jean Rolof,
Irene McCreight, Elgin Adams, tallies - Bill
Craig, Harold Bragg, Betty Anne McClory,
Verna Crawford, Merle McIntosh, Betty
Hood, Dorothy Cox.
Jack and Donna Knight donated the
wiaple•syrup'for prizes. John Subject, At-
wood, was the winner of the hind quarter of
beef, Bud Cruikshanks, Wingham, the front
quarter and Kees DeVrles, also of Wingham
won the ham.

a.m., an exhibitor at the Clinton Fair had a
Sony Handy Camera and battery stolen
from his booth. The victim left his exhibit
