PROCLAMATION
Pitch -In '88
WHEREAS litter pollutes our parks, recreational areas, beaches, highways and
school grounds by defacing them to our sight; and
WHEREAS litter can be dangerous by causing physical harm to man and animals;
and
WHEREAS thoughtlessness and negligence are the main contributory factors in
the occurrence and spread of litter; and
WHEREAS the litter can be reduced by modern technology, education, stream-
lined enforcement and updated litter by-laws, and responsible packaging; and
WHEREAS the Town of Seaforth is concerned with the problems caused by litter
and to bring it to the attention of the public it is deemed appropriate to appoint the
week of May 2 to 8, 1988, as the start of the "Pitch -In '88" campaign in the Town
of Seaforth, and urge all citizens to co-operate with the Town of Seaforth in the elimina-
tion and reduction of litter and littering.
Senior Citizens wishing assistance in cleaning up their properties are asked to phone
the following persons who will arrange for school children to assist them:

NOTE: The Public Works Department has scheduled SPRING CLEAN UP days and
residents are asked to co-operate by cleaning up their properties, leaving debris and
litter properly bagged at the curbside by 8:00 a.m. on the designated days: (Monday,
May 2 to Friday, May 6, 1988)

Local bowlers seek out playoff wins

St. James took over first place in the "A"
Division of the Town Bowling Playoffs on
Monday, April 18 at Starlight Lanes. St.
James bowled games of 1265, 1359, 1364 and
a 31:1 triple,
Dan Bennewies led the way with games of
268, 305, 230 - 803; George Love 268, 245, 244 -
757; Murray Bennewies 226, 321- 697; Cathy
Broome 244 - 626, Carol Johnston 270 - 594
and Michelle Begnewies 197 - 511.
Egmondville had games of 1137, 1239, 1202
for 3578 total pins. George Johnston was
high bowler, with 257, 265 - 698; Patti Ann
Gridzak 243 - 609, Randy Gridzak 209 - 597
and Reg Dick 219 - 586.
Thursday Nighters bowled games of 1138,
1193, 1'r : 7 - 3418 and Neil Beuerman was top
bowler with 254, 246 - 708; Erich Matzold 236,

on Thursday, April 21 and St. James
lengthened their lead in first place with

games of 230, 333, 309 - 872; Dan Bennewies
250, 224, 298 - 772, George Love 255 - 661; 620, Sherry Turney 270 - 601 and Diana Steep

Egmondville held second place with - 3360 with Mark Johnston bowling 266, 226

Thursday Nighters "B" moved into se-

4, Shuffleboard will be held, starting at 1:30
p.m. at the Arena.

to participate in this event - now an official
part of the Senior Games. The local swim
offs will be held on Thursday, May 12, star-
ting at 3 p.m. at the Vanastra Recreation

Registration for SWIMMING LESSONS at
the Seaforth Lions Pool will be on Saturday,
June 4 and Saturday, June 11 from 10 a.m. to
1 p.m. at the Park Pavilion. All boys and
girls 16 years and under are welcome to par-
ticipate in the Seaforth Sportsmen Club's
annual FISH DERBY. The derby will be
held on Saturday, April 30, 1988 at the Lions
Park, from 7 a.m. to 1 p.m. Up to 350 stock-
ed fish with prizes and refreshments for all
the children.
