Playoffs begin in town bowling action

The Town Bowling Playoffs are underway
at Starlight Lanes and after the first night of
action the "A" Division finds;Egmondvlile
holding a slight lead. They bowled games of
1366, 1169, 1173 for a 3708 total.
Top bowlers for Egmondville were Patti
Ann Gridzak 360-688; Reg Dick 231, 240-656;
George Johnston 244, 203-645, and Randy
Gridzak 228, 214-626.
St. James are in second place after games
of 1154, 1174 and 1349 for a 3677 total. Dan
Bennewies led the St. James scoring with
217, 217, 331-765; Murray Bennewies 276,
255-740 and Michelle Bennewies 226, 209-595.
Thursday Nighters also kept the scores
close with games of 1301, 1166,1197 and 3664
in pinfall. Neil Beuerman led all howlers
with games of 290,275, 260 and an 825 triple,
Mike Meidinger 243, 218-647 and Deb Barry
215, 203-588.
After the first night of play the standings
are: Edmondville 37c$ r,a St. James 3677 and
Thursday Nighters 3664.
"1B" DIVISION
Town and Country hold a 10 -pin lead over
St. James after the first night in the "B"
Division, with games of 1122, 1150, 1075 and
a 3347 total.
Louise Dick led with 215, 214-620, Aire Van
Diepen 207, 200, 212-619, and Carl Baillie
206-572.
St. James bowled games of 1116, 1084, 1137
and a 3327 triple. Top bowlers were Sandy
Broadfoot 217, 217-588; Don Nolan 231=577;
Pat Nolan 227-562, Richard Love 223-557 and
Monica Ryan 225-554.
Egmondville had scores of 1038, 1025, 1052
and a 3115 total. Highest scores were bowled
by Rick Vander Veen 202-583; Mark
Johnston 210-560; and Sue Stokes 198-541.
Thursday Nighters ended the evening
with games of 881, 1072, 1095 and 3048 total..
Doug Leonhardt led the way with 258-647;
Doug Procter 294-638 and Pat Ryan 213-570.

COMMERCIAL BOWLING LEAGUE
USA continues to hold first place in the,
Commercial Bowling League Playoffs after
play on April 14.
USA had a three game total of 2185 with
Harry Deloyer bowling 268-599 to lead the
way.
Monaco had a score of 2124 and the top
bowler was Jerry Fuhr with 214-589.
Japan bowled a 2114 triple with con De
Corte having 234-635 to lead the scoring.
Cuba ended the evening with 2077 pins.
Nellie Arts had high single of 204 and Martin
Van Bakel bowled the high triple with 579.
Canada scored 1936 pins, led by Claudette
Elliott with 200-520.
The Gypsies bowled 1903 with Joe Van
Dooren being high bowler at 232-492.
Team playoff standings are: USA 9122,
Monaco 8615, Japan 8443, Canada 8421, Cuba
8419 and Gypsies 7940.

Senior Games weekly
SENIOR GAMES continue this week with
three more activities planned. Today, the
SOFTBALL THROW will be held at the
arena starting at 1:30 p.m. This is a new
event, let's give it a try.
SNOOKER will be held tomorrow at the
Doig residence at 7 p.m. The Daig residence
is located on Goderich Street West, across
from Whitney-Ribey Funeral Home.
On Wednesday, April 27 BRIDGE will be
held at the Seaforth Legion Branch 156 star-
ting at 7:30 p.m.
If you are 55 years or older, you are eligi-
ble to participate in these Senior games; or
any of the games planned. Watch this col-
umn week by week for details on upcoming
events, "Let's Participate!"
SENIOR SHUFFLEBOARD continues
every Wednesday afternoon starting at 1:30
p.m.

a NATIONAL LIFEGUARD SERVICE on
May 6, 7, 8 and 13, 14, 15. Registration fee

and the exam fee. RED CROSS and ROYAL
LIFE INSTRUCTORS COURSE will also be
held at the Vanastra Recreation centre on
May 28, 29, June 3, 4 and 5. Registration fee

The Seaforth Hospital Auxiliary are
hosting their annual PENNY SALE from
April 25 to May 6 with the draws to be made
on May 7. The PENNY Sale will be held in
the old Photo Pro Shop, beside the VN Video

The Seaforth Branch Library is hosting a
CLASSICAL MAGIC SHOW with Michael
Ross on Friday, April 22 at 7:30 p.m. This
program is brought by the Outreach Ontario
Program, the Ministry of Culture and Com-
nyutications and the Ontario Arts Council.
Admission will be $1 per person.
The Seaforth Branch Library is also
presenting a "LANDSCAPE DESIGN FOR
THE HOME OWNER", with George Cumm-
ing of the Royal Botanical Gardens. It will
be held on Tuesday, May 3 at the Seaforth
and District Community Centres at 7 p.m.
Tickets are available at the Library and will
cost $2 or $2.50 at the door. For more infor-

BACK CARE, "making it your respon-
sibility". Presented by Fanshawe College
and The Physiotherapy Centre in coopera-
tion with the Ontario Fitness Council. A
workshop specifically designed to explain
back pain and demonstrate proper back
care and safe exercises. Saturday, May 14,
1988 from 9:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. at Fan-
shawe College registration fee will be $50.
