Kailyn Burke, infant daughter of Tom and
Lynn Burke, was baptized on Sunday, April
17 by Father Andrew Sipek at St. Colutnban
Catholic Church.
Kailyn's godparents are Gary and Joanne
Schleen of London.
Guests attending the baptismal ceremony
and later with Tom, Lynn, Stacy and Devan
at their home were Rose Burke of Stratford
and Roy and Angeline Swart, grand-
parents; great-grandmother, Joanna
acnoonderwoerd of Mitchell; Marion
McPherson of Stratford; Kim Swart, Kathy
Scott of London; John Buller of St. Thomas;
Father Sipek and Gary and Joanne Schleen
of London.
Congratulations go out to Liz Klaver and
Robert Reid who were united In marriage on
Saturday, April 16 at St. Columban Catholic
Church by Father Andrew Sleek.
Attendants for the bride and groom were:
Louise Ryan, maid of honor, bridesmaids
were Cheryl Wheeler and Sherri Maloney;
junior bridesmaids were Cindy Maloney and
Kim Maloney. Best man was 1?nnald Raid
and the ushers were Dan Lear and Simon
Klaver. Parents of the bride and groom are
Herman and Elizabeth Klaver and Robert
and Edna Reid. Altar boys were Derek
Maloney and David Ryan. Readings were
done . by Mary Maloney, Fritz Klaver and
Nick Kiaver.
Offertory gift bearers were Herman
Klaver, Jr. and Richard Klaver. Music and
songs were provided by the Stapleton girls.
A large crowd of friends and relatives at-
tended the wedding reception at the
Seaforth Community Centre.
SPIRITUAL REFLECTION
St. Columban Catholic Womens League
ladies who attended the Spiritual Reflection
Day at the Immaculate Conception Church
in Stratford on April 13 were Margaret
O'Reilly, Angeline Swart, Mary Moylan,
Carol Ryan, Mildred Cronin, Marie
Bicknell, Martha Claessens and Cecilia
Ryan.
EDUCATION WEEK
Education Week is being held this week.
At St. Columban School it began with the
children, their teachers and parents atten-
ding Holy Mass at 11:15 a.m. offered by Fr.
Sipek in the church with the children par-
ticipating by singing, doing the readings and
intentions and bringing the gifts up at the,
offertory.
PEOPLE
Pat Subject, Carrie, Ryan, Jeff and
Nathan and Louise Ryan of Kitchener spent
the weekend with Clarence and Cecilia
Ryan and on Sunday Laura, Les and Shan-
non Ward of Kitchener visited with the
Ryans.
In the last week's correspondence I in-
advertently omitted Sister Margaret Eckert
of Strathroy as a guest of Don and Brenda
Ryan at the baptismal of their infant
daughter.

District 72 of the Knights of Columbus
held its first Steak and Vegas night on Satur-
day in the Council Chambers in St. Colum-
ban. A good attendance represented the
Knights from Dublin, St. Columban,
Seaforth, Clinton, Goderich, Kingsbridge,
St. Augustine and Wingham. Activities were
under the direction of Rene Brnchu, Grand
Knight. Richard McKay and .,duty Grand
Knight Frank Crowley.

was held in the Waterloo Inn, Waterloo on
the weekend. Dublin Lions attending were
Warren Bennewies, Zone Chairman,
Herbert Brown, Secretary and Louis
Kraemers, Treasurer. Their wives also at-
tended the weekend activities.
PEOPLE
Mr. and Mrs. Ray Coombs of Seaforth
visited with their daughter Patty and her
husband Jack Geldhof.
Visiting with Mr. and Mrs. Joe Eckert on
the weekend were Stephen, Tanya and
Darell Eckert of Egmondville and Judy,
Angie, Jenny and Tammy Emm, Ann
Hulley and Richard and Tami Borysuick, all
from Stratford.
Spelling corrections from last week are
Melba Whetham (not Whathom) and Lyda
Jordensen (not Jorison). Sorry ladies.
Jack Geldof is recuperating at home after
a stay in Stratford General Hospital. He is
wished a speedy recovery. "
Home with Mr. and Mrs. Hugh Benninger
during the weeke were their sons, Marvin
Benninger from Hornpayne and Don and
Marilyn Benninger and children Lori and
Brad, from Innsmore. Also visiting on the
weekend was their daughter Rose Ann and
Tom and Tommy Slminson.
With Millie Evans on the weekend were
Linda Hilhorst of Toronoto and Mr. and Mrs.
Jim Jordon of Orillia.

recommended that she purchase a new
scrapbook and plastic photo holders.
Florence McPhail presided for the annual
meeting installation ceremony following
reports given by the program co-ordinator
Joyce Vivian, Public relations, Doris Miller
Tweedsmuir Curator - Esther Smale and
Resolutions, Margaret Daynard. Financial
report was given by Kay Smale and Verle
Mahon read the minutes of the last annual
meeting. Margaret Daynard gave the
auditor's report.
Grace Kerslake presented the slate of of-
ficers for 1988-89 which were accepted and
installed by Florence McPhail. Meeting
closed with 0 Canada followed by lunch
prepared by Orpha Norris, Florence
McPhail and Esther Smale.
The officers for the coming year are Past

Roberta Templeman presided for the an-
nual meeting of the Staffa Women's In-
stitute hosted by Esther Smale in her home
on Monday, Apri111. Sixteen members were
present.
Roberta opened with a reading, "Adver-
tisement for Women's Institutes", followed
by the Institute Ode and Mary Stewart Col-
lect, with Marion McCaughey accompany-
ing on the piano. Members answered the roll
call by the payment of fees and telling which
meeting this past year they had enjoyed the
most. All felt that each month's activities
had been informative and interesting.
Lillian Douglas contributed two readings,
"It's Hard To Imagine" and "A Friend".
Some vt Py interesting painting hints were
given by Margaret Daynard, just in time for
spring cleaning. These included the dif-
ferent types of paint — latex or water base,
and what type of walls they are most suited
for. She had on display some of the newer
paint brushes including disposable brush
heads, sandpaper and its uses and two dif-
ferent types of edgers.
During business the committees working
on the 85th anniverary celebration reported
on their progress. Esther showed some
repairs she had completed on the
