The April meeting of the St. Columban
Catholic Women's League was held in the
parish hall on Tusday, April 5 with 14
members and Father Sipek present.
Margaret O'Reilly, president, opened the
meeting with league prayer. Minutes there
read and the correspondence included
thank -you cards for gifts to the sick and
mothers of new babies, also a letter from the
Joseph family in India.
Annual reports given by members of the
executive showed a busy and successful
year. Membership fees for this year will be
$7. Mary Coyne will visit the sick for the
month of April. The C.W.L. Diocesan Con-
vention will be held at the Canterbury Inn in
Sarnia on May 3 and 4.
The nominating comdiittee of Carol Ryan
and Angeline Swart brought in the slate of
officers for the 1988-89 executive as follows:
President, Margaret O'Reilly, 1st vice,
Theresa Cronin, 2nd vice, Maryanne
Feeney, 3rd vice, Karen Ryan, Recording
Secretary, Patricia Crowley, Treasurer,
Ann Cronin and Corresponding Secretary,
Sheri Cronin. Installation will be during
mass on April 26, the feast day of Our Lady
of Good Counsel, at 7:30 pm.
Rosaries will be given to the First Com-
munion children, graduation plaques to the
Grade 8 graduates and confirmation pla-
ques to the Grade 7 and 8 children who will
be confirmed • on May 24 at St. Patrick's
Church in Dublin.

The June Social will be on June 15 in the
parish hall. A hand made quilt for the draw,
In charge of Mildred Cronin, is being quilted
by some of the C.W.L. ladies.
The meeting closed with prayer and a
social hour followed.
PEOPLE
Ferg and Kaye Melady of Belle River, Dr.
Tom and Teresa Melady of Goderich and
Dorothy Harback of Kitchener spent the
weekend with Ted and Frances Melady, an
annual get-together.
Lisa Avery Melady, infant .daughter of
Tom and Joanne Melady, was baptized on
Sunday, April 10 at 2 p.m. by Father A.
Sipek at St. Columban Catholic Church.
Lisa's'godparents are Uncle Don Melady
of London and Aunt Annette Roks,
Deleware.
Guests attending the baptismal ceremony
and later with Tom and Joanne at their
home were: grandparents, Ted and Frances
Melady of St. Columban and John and Lenie
Roks of Deleware; Anne and Wayne Chapin,
William and Vanessa of St. Columban; Pat-
sy Ryan, Chris and Lori Lyn of Thamesford,
Brian Melady, Sean, Brian and Debbie of
Dublin, Michelle Melady of London,
Dorothy Harback of Kitchener, Cathy Roks,
and David of Deleware, Jim and Judy Roks,
Jacob and Kristin, Deleware, Jim and
Mieke Wernham, John and Carolyn of Kit-
chener, Carolyn Miland of Mitchell and
Father Andrew of St. Columban.
Clarence and Cecilia Ryan attended the
baptism ceremony of their granddaughter
Angela Dawn Ryan, infant daughter of Don
and Brenda Ryan of London, during mass at
Holy Cross Catholic Church by Father J.
Comiskey on.Sunday, April 10.
Angela's godparents are John and Helen
Warren of St. Walburg, Sask, with J.D. and
Mary MacRae standing in for them at the
baptism. All were guests with Don and
Brenda and boys at their home. Other
guests were Glen and Irene Carruthers of
Melbourne, Brenda's grandmother from
Glencoe, Mark Ryan and Jenny and Ian
MacRae.
Marion and Wilfred Diegle of Stratford,
Martin Rose and friend Dorothy Roht of Mit-
chell and John and Pat Racho and children
helped celebrate the 39th wedding anniver-
sary of Doug and Jackie Racho on Saturday,
April 9.
Ferg Melady of Belle River (former
neighbor) dropped in to see Doug and Jackie
on Saturday and gave them a °Book of
Poems" written by himself.
Muriel Darling and friend Ossy of Cam-
bridge spent Sunday with Doug and Jackie
on the occasion of their anniversary.

Home with Hugh and Ann Benninger
to celebrate Hugh's birthday on Sunday
were "Sister" Marie Brebeuf and "Sister"
Grace from London. Ben and Mary Lynn
Benninger from Kitchener and Tom and
Rose Ann and Tommy Simsonsen, RR 2
Dublin were also present.
Eileen MacRae had a "special" birth-
day celebration on Sunday, April 10. Upon
arriving in London at her step -daughter's
home (Nora Arm and Ian Jackson) for din-
ner Saturday night, she found waiting to
celebrate with her were Mike and Pat,
Kirk, Marci, Denise and Joey MacRae of
Dublin, James D. and Marg, Ian and Jen-
ny of London and her new gandson Trevor
Jackson. Due to illness Don's sister Rita of
London was unable to be with her. A
delicious dinner and birthday cake were
much enjoyed by all and Mrs. MacRae
received some beautiful gifts from all
family present.
On Sunday Mrs. MacRae's family all ar-
rived home unexpectedly to celebrate
again. Sharon Felling, Jennifer and friend
Rick from Meaford, Jack and Denise Kelly
from Stratford, Bill and Kathy,Tracy and
Chad Wolf from Mitchell and ark Felling
and friend Troy from Meaford were all
present. David was unable to be with them
as he was curling in North Bay. Everyone
was treated to dinner at the Holmsted
House in Seaforth, afterwards returned to

ing of presents.
Get well wishes go to Jack Geldopf who
is a patient in Stratford Hospital.
INTENDED FOR LAST WEEK
Don and Eileen MacRae motored to
Nashville for the Easter weekend, and
returned home Tuesday, April 5.
The Murray Brothers had their annual
card party at Brother Joe's home in Kit-
chener. They played until the wee hours of
the morning. The three younger brothers,
Jerome, Ron and Arthur won and the three
older brothers, Joe, Cyril and Jeremiah
lost. A great time was enjoyed by all. The
evening ended with a delicious lunch with
all the trimmings - including easter eggs.

Celebrations were Stephen and Nora
Eckert, Stephen Jr., Darrell and Tanya of
Egmondville, Reiny and Shirley from
Richmond Hill, Ken and Ann Hurley, 'Kim
and friend, Karen and Richard of Strat-
ford, Rose Marie Borysick, Tami, Grant
and David of Stratford, Duncan, Judy and
Angie, Jenny and Tammy, also of Strat-
ford, Nancy Storey, Sandra and Chris from
Clinton, Barbara Ann Eckert of
Mississauga and friend Karen of Kit-
chener and Joe Jr., also from Kitchener.
Millie Evans spent Easter in London
with her daughter Marie and Jack Cleary.
Orval Davidson from Toronto, brother of
Mrs. Don MacRae, was home to visit his
mother Ade Davidson in Ritz Villa,
Mitchell.
Mr. and Mrs. Charles Friend of Dublin,.
Melba Whotham and Lyda Jorison from
Mitchell have returned home from a much
enjoyed winter holiday in California.

Hibbert United Church hosted the joint
Good Friday service on Friday evening with
both Pastor Debbie Hoekstra and REv.
Lucy Milne of Cromarty Presbyterian
Church particiapating in the service and
Reverend Milne presenting the Easter
Message. Memebers of both choirs provided
special music for the evening.
PANCAKE BREAKFAST
The youth group fo Hibbert United Church
served a delicious pancake breakfast to the
congregation on Easter Sunday morning.
Following breakfast Pastor Hoekstra led in
the worship service with special music pro-
vided by the junior choir.
BIRTHDAYS
Mrs. Mary Hocking and Mrs. Orpha Nor-
ris were guests of honor on Tuesday after-
noon at the Family Life Centre, during the
afternoon of quilting. The occasion was the
eighty-seventh birthday of Mrs. Hockings,
and everyone enjoyed birthday cake with
their cup of tea.
Cain Templeman was a
Moses Mitchell on Friday afternoon on the
occassion of A.J.'s eighth birthday.
John and Marjorie Drake were Sunday
guests of Brian and Lorraine Bromley, of
Walton, when they celebrated some April
birthdays.
VISITATIONS
Chuck and Dorothy Ebel, of Goderich,
visited on Friday afternoon with„Rob, Bev,
Carrah, Cain, and Cohen Templeman, on
their way home from a five week holiday in
Florida.
Visiting at the J. Templeman home on
Saturday were Geri, Jennifer, Jessica and
Jay NeiLsor Kitchener; Ruth Templeman
of Stratford: Mary Jane and Cassandra
Parsons; Nancy, Kimberly and Danny
Bertens; Bev and Cohen Templeman of
Staffa; and David and Karen Lindsay and
Mallory Templemann of Mitchell.

About 30 Marian Ritchie Women's Mis-
sionary Society members and their guests
sat down to a bounteous potluck dinner at
noon on Good Friday, with many of them
wearing their Easter Bonnet creations.
Following the dinner, Hazel Harburn
presided for the April meeting with Betty
Lou Norris at the piano. The Old Rugged
Cross was sung followed by the business
when the secretary, Edna Stoneman read a
letter from Michael Cavney, of Toronto, ao-

niversary celebration on July 20. Mr.
Cavney spent some time in Russia and is an
entertaining speaker. An invitation to Ex-
eter to see the film, A Glimpse of Heaven -
Easter in Russia, was accepted. Ruth Laing
reported on the annual meeting of Stratford -
Huron Presbyterial held in Stratford last
week.
In place of the study book, Lillian Douglas
presented a filmstrip on The Last Supper.,
The Easter worship service from the Glad
Tidings was led by Ruth Laing, assisted by
Doris Miller, Peggy Kerslake, Roberta
Templeman, and Agnes lamond. The
meeting closed with the Lord's Prayer.
